How would you accessorise this long white dress for an awards do?

Off to an awards ceremony this week and my vintage 40s dress has arrived (see pics)

It's long and cream and fits like a dream. But how would you accessorise?

Am thinking either: gold cuff, gold earrings, nude bag and shoes.

Or nude shoes, gold/pearl chandeliers and a pale gold clutch.

I feel like a slash of red lipstick would take it out of bridal territory but my lips are very thin.

Grateful for thoughts, please!

I think to take it out of bridal territory you need really bold shoes/bag. Cobalt blue or bright coral or something like that?

That is beautiful! Gorgeous dress.

I agree that bold shoes would be better than nude. Maybe even a light gold “barely there” sandal?

Or maybe even some red peep toe shoes and clutch with matching lips

Thank you, all! But oh dear, I have NO brightly coloured accessories (my clothes tend to be big bright block colours, so I try toning them down with nude/tan/black/metallic).

How about deep pewter sandals and matching bag? I'm trying to avoid buying anything new (tightening purse strings for Christmas).

Think red would make it look a bit cheap. If it's definitely on the cream side rather than white, I would go with some gold sandals and clutch. If more on the white than would maybe go for silver. Gorgeous dress!

Pewter does sound good. Have you got any long (properly long) beads in a colour?

Tentomidnight · 27/11/2017 16:30

What a beautiful dress!
For an awards do I would add pale gold accessories. Maybe a slightly undone hairstyle to make it more grecian and less bridal?

MEtallic sounds great. Movie stars often wear long white dresses for premiers or awards etc and I don’t think it ever looks bridal really as the context is clearly “formal do”

blueskyinmarch · 27/11/2017 16:55

From your range of accessories i think metallic sounds good. Can we see a pic of what you have?

Ropsleybunny · 27/11/2017 19:27

Pewter, definitely not gold.

Wow! The dress is stunning.
