What clothing size am I?

If I have a 25.5 inch waist(today, because it can fluctuate from 25 to 26), 37 inch hips and 30FF bra size?
My shoulders are broad, I think around 41 inches around. I often read threads on here with people being quite certain they are a definite size. I never am. I recently got some black trousers during the BF deal at Whistles, a size 8 and a size 10, both too big around the waist. Size 8 fit the best so kept them, but there are no belt loops, so again have to take them in at the waist.
I just wish I could buy clothes on-line that fit well.
Jackets and coats are always a problem, unless I want them to be quite roomy or can belt them in. Leather bikers I always have to buy a very snug fit on my shoulders, otherwise they look enormous on me, and I don't suit the oversized look. So when putting on, I look as though I'm being straight jacketed, not exactly nonchalant shrugging it on, fine when on, but snug until I break them in.

You're the size that fits you best depending on what item of clothing you're wearing. Hth

6-8 Well done you Hmm

Thishatisnotmine · 26/11/2017 13:17

Doesn't it vary for everyone? I can be anything from an 8-14 depending on style, shop, if I expect something to look good when I am bloated. If you religiously stick to one size you probably wear a lot of ill fitting clothes.

You are better off trying different sizes on in shops as vanity sizing has made it difficult to buy online.

Sizing is weird. I weigh about 13 stone and am a short arse, but have on a Great Plains size 12 skirt today. I vary from sizes 12-16. I have a waist and boobs, large arse and hips. It's all to do with the cut.

I agree that you can't really pinpoint a single size that will fit you every time. Depending on the item, different body shapes will need a different size. It's just a case of ordering a couple of sizes (as you have done) or taking a guess at one. Just make sure you are happy with their returns policy before ordering.
I do sympathise as I find it hard to order clothing online too. I suspect the majority of us do.

Unfortunately you've made the innocent mistake of mentioning that you are slim and will probably now come under fire from some people on here.

Shops all fit differently and are sized differently but I guess your issue is that when your an hourglass shape your not the same ‘size’ all over so you waist would be a 6-8 but your hips a 10 and your boobs probably mean you have to wear anything from an 8-14 on tops depending on the fit? Getting things that tie in on your waist would be best like paper bag trousers and wrap dresses. I think you’ll have to take in/belt most skinny trousers but shop around spend a day going into a load of different shops and try loads of things on you might find somewhere that has a good fit on you. I have wider shoulders too and I either go for a cropped leather jacket or a coat I can tie in at the waist

This website lets you put your measurements in and calculates in all major uk shops.

sizes.darkgreener.com/

It's worth nothing they want under bust measurements rather than over which I found unclear

TimbuktuTimbuktu · 26/11/2017 14:27

Noting!

JoJoSM2 · 26/11/2017 15:28

Sounds like you're very hourglassy? Bravissimo does good shirts and tops for big boobs and small waists. And with trousers, I'd imagine you'd often need to get a larger size so that it sits well on the hips and thighs and then get the waist taken in so they fit everywhere. So I wouldn't expect that you can just get a particular size in any shop.

hendricksyousay · 26/11/2017 16:14

I can be and 8/10/12 depending on the shop 🤷‍♀️

I also have an 11 inch difference between waist & hip - Zara and Warehouse are both best for trousers for hourglass shapes.
