Skincare SOS

Help me! I'm now entering my 30s and still have a T zone like I'm 13, mostly chin and forehead. I'm self conscious and self-employed, I need my confidence back. The only time my skin was good was when I was vegan... but I also ended up needing a transfusion so I'm not keen to go that route if some skincare products can do the job. Current skincare regime isn't good, basically a wipe over with babywipes morning and night. I don't have a clue what make up I use as I haven't seen the bag (a foundation, eyeliner, lipstick... again not exactly a wide selection) in six months. I have about £80 of boots points to spend though so tell me your miracles. Thanks!

Try The Ordinary, you can't get it in Boots but it's incredibly reasonably priced. At the very least you need a proper cleanser and moisturiser but they have a huge range of products. If you email Victoria Health with a description of your skin they'll send you a tailored product list/regime:

What's your problem, pores, spots, blackheads, greasiness, Adam and the Ants white stripe or was that just me as a teenager?

Have a look at Caroline hirons cleansing cheat sheet. If you use wipes your basically leaving a lot of grime on your skin so spots are inevitable.

I second the ordinary.

Dairy can supposedly flare up acne, especially hormonal spots. Perhaps the improvement when you were vegan was because of that. Are you vegetarian now? If not you could try just switching out the dairy products for alternatives but continue with other animal products - so shouldn't become deficient in anything.

I'm allergic to cows milk & it never really improved my skin apart from my allergy rash went. I don't get colds anymore though.

I'm allergic to sulphites in food & their often hidden, avoiding that's made much more of an impact.

Low carbing had the biggest improvement but sometimes it's just good old fashioned stress & hormones, neither of which you can avoid.

Bin the wipes they wreck your skin.

I’m using dettol soap just now it’s amazing for greasy skin. If that’s too harsh any of the witch hazel risking washed are good and use with a flannel
