Winter coat help please.

I need a new winter coat as my old one is looking frayed (it was only meant to be a stop gap post kids).

It needs to be mid thigh length (and I'm short - so just below bum length on most people). The seasalt long seafolly length is perfect. It needs to be fairly warm, but not Canadian goose warm (I switch between inside and outside a lot, so end up keeping my coat on wherever I am). It needs to have a hood, and be waterproof, but definitely no fur. And definitely not puffer style as I look like the Michelin man. (I'm size 14). Price wise, around the £100 mark, but I can go higher.

I liked the look of this one, and it ticked all my boxes

apart from the fact that it is a) dull, and b) my husband claims that Jack Wolfskin are a rather 'chavvy' brand where he works.

Anyone have any other suggestions?

Barbour waxed Parker style coat?

This is my winter coat, 30% off takes it down to £133, it's a really good warm coat, but very light to wear, I'd definitely recommend it www.boden.co.uk/en-gb/womens-coats-jackets/coats/t0062-blk/womens-black-alberta-puffer-coat#nav

I have got a Barbour (just checked the label and it is the 'Belsay' model). A few years old now.

As you would imagine, it's great for the rain, but those days where it is a bit colder but still a bit humid (or you are on and off public traposrt etc) I find it gets too hot. Guess it is not as breathable due to the wax coating.

  • it doesn't come with hood but has poppers for a hood attachment, presumably a separate purchase.

Also I am in Australia now and don't even it it Hmm

Thank you for your suggestions. I'm not a fan of Barbour, (plus my husband owns 2 Barbour coats, and we may end up looking like one of those matching couples).

Mrs 9c, yours ticks a lot of my boxes, but fails on the fur hood and puffiness. (Don't get me wrong, puffer jackets look amazing... on other people). I hadn't thought about Boden, so I will have a look at their other selections.

All suggestions gratefully received! It's cold!
