Wearing DMs at 49 - a good idea or not?

Hi, I've never owned or worn Doc Martens but I'm a fan. Am thinking of buying a pair of DM boots. I don't like them in plain black so I was thinking of the classic dark red, or any other nice colour. Or the black high boots with red floral pattern.
I'm 49, can I get still away with wearing DMs?

I actually do like the black biker boots with the red flowers.

Are DMs comfortable to wear???

I have these they're great. And v comfy once worn in. Why wouldn't you?

fartyghost · 21/11/2017 16:26

Of course you can, you can wear whatever you like regardless of your age. I wear DM boots and I'm older than you.

Maverick66 · 21/11/2017 16:35

My quirky friend wears them. She is 72. She rocks them!

PaxUniversalis · 21/11/2017 16:44

Oh, good! I've been eyeing up the black biker boots with red flowers for a while. I've looked at all the boots and shoes I already have for the winter and it's embarrassing! Either boring - same old same old - or nearly falling apart/out of shape. Am going out shopping this week so yeah will definitely try on the DM biker boots.
My feet are wide so not always easy to find comfy shoes and boots.

Wear what you like! There's no rules.

ThisisrealityGreg · 21/11/2017 16:49

And DMs are well comfy!

Toffeelatteplease · 21/11/2017 16:51

I have these. they are fantastically comfortable and often get complimented when I'm out. Dr Martens are a sensible choice whatever your age

MrsLogicFromViz · 21/11/2017 16:58

Docs rock! I have massive size 9 feet and absolutely love them. Those Vondas look really cool - go for it Grin

TowerRose · 21/11/2017 18:27

I love these boots Grin does anyone know what the sizing is like on this type? I'm a size 5 in the pascal boots, are they about the same?

Mulberrysilk · 21/11/2017 22:11

Go for it.

There is a breaking in period involved so bear with them. They will become the most comfortable shoe you have ever worn.

QuantumPixies · 21/11/2017 22:14

I have navy pascals which I absolutely love.

Go for it!

RebeccaBunch · 21/11/2017 22:19

I've always worn them - I'm 50 now.

But I am sad to say the quality has diminished greatly in recent years - I don't think I can bring myself to buy another pair.

My fav were classic lace up boots with a slightly raised heel but I don't think they make them anymore.

RebeccaBunch · 21/11/2017 22:20

sign up to the DM mailing list as they often send to special offers

Toffeelatteplease · 21/11/2017 22:20

Ummm... funny sorry about breaking those particular Dr Martens in

First time i wore them was on holiday where we were walking all day everyday. I'd been too ill to break them in sensibly the week before. I didn't even take another pair of shoes with me. I do wonder at my lapse of wisdom on this One!

It was fine I didn't even have a blister.
