Foundation for combination/oily-yet-aged skin?

I need some new foundation as my cheapo chemist one is doing me no favours. I have skin that's really oily on my forehead and chin (thanks, PCOS!) but now I'm knocking on a bit it's drier everywhere else. I'd like decent coverage without that weirdy death mask effect, so probably medium rather than full.

I was browsing in duty free at the weekend and the colours that were the closest match were Estee Lauder and Bobbi Brown - are these worth trying for my skin type? Would a primer help with the oily forehead?

I love the YSL Touche Eclat foundation. Some people say they don't like the new formulation but I actually find it has a slightly better coverage than it formerly did! They are always good for giving a decent sized sample on YSL counters too.

And primer helps, but it is definitely trial and error finding the one that suits you! I've tried loads of them, Smashbox, Laura Mercier, Benefit, you name it, I've tried it! And the one I actually end up going back to is the Rommel Lasting Perfection as it's less greasy. (Also Eve Lom Mattifying primer is amazing but now discontinued in U.K.- some TK Maxx still sell it though)

thanks, I'll definitely have a look for the Rimmel primer. I'll see if I can get the YSL counter to give me a sample - I'm really fair and cool-toned, so have to be careful to avoid going a bit David Dickinson.

I’ve recently started using Bobbi Brown serum foundation, it isn’t cheap. But it’s fab on my combi skin.

excellent - I think the Bobbi Brown shades were great. I have made my peace with the fact that I can no longer get away with cheapo foundation, and DH has said that if I make specific notes he'll order what I choose for Christmas.
