Dyson for curly hair? Yay or nay?

I'm going round in circles on this one, but basically is the Dyson hair dryer any good for curly hair. It's a ridiculous amount of money to spend on a hair dryer, will it change my life?!

Details - shoulder length, medium-fine hair but a lot of it. Fairly curly, obviously prone to frizz but Curly Girl principles mean that is mostly under control. I do have a hairdryer and diffuser but very rarely use it as it takes almost an hour to dry my hair. I'm resigned to air drying in the morning and looking not great for the first three or four hours of the day on a wash day while my hair dries, but I hate it and would much rather have it dried looking good before I leave the house.

I've read endless reviews, watched loads of youtube videos. Help me!

Yep, dries curly hair with diffuser much faster than any other hairdryer I've ever used, including my previously much loved Parlux. I've also found it excellent for fighting frizz.

I reviewed my Dyson on another thread when I first bought it (maybe a year ago?!), and I love it even more now than I did then. It is a lot of money, but it's worth it for the amount of time it frees from the quite hideous chore of drying thick hair Grin

That sounds really promising!

Interested to hear from more users now that the dryers have been around for a while.

I borrowed one for a couple of days it didn't do much for my curly hair.

I've fine curly hair and whilst it's a good fast hairdryer I can't say it's worked miracles. I got it as a present last Christmas and I was expecting miracles given the price.
The parleux at my gym is better (I will never admit this to OH and Dyson buyer) Grin

Are talking about with the diffuser ? I have thick curly hair and thought I’d like to try one .

ggirl · 20/11/2017 20:32

You could buy it from QVC and return if you don't like it

I have the diffuser on mine but my hair went a bit wild with that. Think electrocuted sheep. Maybe if you have thick curly hair it would work.
Great idea re QVC...try it and return if not great results.

Buy it direct from Dyson. LIke QVC You have 30 days to return it BUT if you don't like it Dyson will collect it from you free of charge whereas QVC you have to pay return postage which for something that valuable will be quite a lot.

I speak from experience as I had one which I eventually returned. I have shoulder length straightish hair with a few kinks and waves hair which I like to dry with a lot of volume and movement. The Dyson made it very smooth and shiny but absolutely flat.

Good idea about getting one from Dyson. Wonder if they do Black Friday deals?!

Thanks.
