I need help in finding a perfume for my niece’s Christmas present Smile

She is 20 and loves perfume, but doesn’t have the budget to splurge so I’d like to treat her. Off the top of my head she has/had Chloe Love Story, Prada Candy, YSL Black Opium and Chanel Noir. The last two I bought her in the past but I’m not sure if she liked them as she typically likes sweet/vanilla/fruity fragrances. I want to get it right this time

I’m quite out of touch with the fragrance world, does anyone know of any good options? Like recent releases or fragrances that smell similar to the above, or what you/your kids like?

Thanks!

Glossier have just released their first perfume, smells quite sweet. If you really want to splash out why not try a byredo fragrance? Gypsy water is gorgeous!

TheFutureMrsB · 18/11/2017 04:23

One of my current favourites is Marc Jacobs Dot, it’s fruity and sweet, and has a lovely bottle, I also like Jimmy Choo Flash.

There’s lots I like actually Blush

Go to Fragantica.com, you can search perfumes with similar scents to what she likes.

PolkaDottyRose · 18/11/2017 04:45

If she likes sweet fruity vanilla I would highly recommend Angel Eau Sucree by Mugler, it's divine.

BBCK · 18/11/2017 04:47

Try Valentina. It’s lovely and very popular with my daughter and nieces ( me too). Black Opium is also a hit.

NotAgainYoda · 18/11/2017 07:03

IT's not new but Angel by Thierry Mugler is vanillery.

HKW81 · 18/11/2017 07:24

I've worn Angel by Thierry Mugler since I was 19 . . . I always get compliments on it and now feel very strange if I don't have it in! It's expensive but you can buy the refillable stars that work out cheaper in the long run

Thanks for your suggestions! Can’t wait to check them out today!

Angel Eau Sucree is absolutely beautiful, I've had my fair share of sweet perfumes and this was a true favorite!

bear28 · 18/11/2017 19:39

My favourite and current is Paco Rabanne, Olympea. I always get compliments when wearing it and the scent carries well with one a scoosh or two. Another good one is Marc Jacobs Daisy Parfum (not the toilette) one scoosh of this is all you need and I wear this on nights out as its a bit more expensive.

My 22 yr DD’s is wearing Angel, Marc jacobs, the new Tiffany is lovely too.

PolkaDottyRose · 18/11/2017 20:27

Buster, have you tried the new one Aura? It's just as lovely as Eau Sucree (which I really love)..different, but similar in some ways, but equally gorgeous.

BusterGonad · 18/11/2017 20:33

No I haven't Polka but I've recently just got (birthday present) the Charlotte Tilbury Scent of a Dream and it's lovely, I can't really describe it but it has a lovely note of Violet in it and smells like a posh soap! Confused My other favorites are Marc Jacobs Decadence and YSL Manifesto. I'm very much in the oriental heavy vanilla camp! Grin

PolkaDottyRose · 18/11/2017 20:36

Oh, I love violet..must try that one too!

Branleuse · 18/11/2017 20:38

Vanillary from lush

BusterGonad · 18/11/2017 21:38

Polka try Marc Jacobs Decadence too, it's so delicious!

SukiTheDog · 18/11/2017 22:21

Another vote for Paco Rabanne Olympea.

coffeekittens · 18/11/2017 22:33

Marc Jacobs decadence as pp's have said. Devine

NickMyLipple · 18/11/2017 22:38

I love most of what your niece does and I've just bought the new Armani - Because It's You.

I also love Olympea!

Sarahh2014 · 18/11/2017 23:03

Coco mademoiselle

AWorldGoneTopsyTurvy · 18/11/2017 23:26

Miss Dior is my all time fave, followed by Givenchy Very Irresistible

CountFosco · 19/11/2017 00:01

Rather than buying one full bottle why not give her some sample sets. Bloom do nice ones (or a yearly subscription so you get a sample pack each month - 72 samples in a year) or The Perfume Society does some nice discovery boxes. There's also lots of companies (especially the niche perfume houses) that sell sample sets of their range 4160 Tuesdays are a favourite over on the Perfumista threads.

Kelsoooo · 19/11/2017 00:03

Scandal, JPG (I think) sweet. It's lovely.

AnonEvent · 19/11/2017 00:29

Acqua di Parma do a range of floral scents (Iris, Violet, Rose and Magnolia) which are quite sweet, and very pretty.

littlebillie · 19/11/2017 00:35

I tried Delina this week love it but can’t afford it

DarthMaiden · 19/11/2017 00:57

Given the ones you’ve said she has and likes I think she’d really like Black Orchid by Tom Ford.

It’s damn pricy but it’s lovely and very “layered”.

Another one is Plum by Mary Greenwell. She launched a fragrance range that sadly (to me anyway) hasn’t done that well - not because it’s not any good, rather I think she’s not well known enough and it wasn’t marketed that well.

I have Plum and Fire by her - they cost a fortune on first purchase (but I found them in a discount perfume shop for half price a few months ago and stocked up.)

I did a quick google and you can still find it on various sites. It smells beautiful and the packaging is lovely. The bottle and stopper are really heavy and luxurious.
