Hair emergency - help!

I'm on a business trip & about to go out for work dinner (In 45 mins). Went for a swim once meetings finished and only realised afterwards I had forgotten all my hair products other than shampoo. Hotel only had combined shampoo/body wash.

Plan was to blow dry & straighten hair (have mini straighteners with me). Hair has turned into massive ball of frizz. I started straightening but that is only making it worse.

I have hair brush, and about 5 hair grips, two hair ties and straighteners. Shoulder length thick dark hair.

Can I do anything other than a bun (which looks really severe on me)?

Have found 2 more hair ties and about 10 grips in the bottom of my bag...

Are there any colleagues there who may have some conditioner and product that you could use?

MummySparkle · 16/11/2017 18:41

Call hotel reception, they may have some you can buy

vvviola · 16/11/2017 18:46

Colleagues staying in thos hotel all male. And hotel are willing to get something from town for me, but town is 20 minutes away, so no real use - our taxi is booked for 7:15.

It's just me, my hair clips and you guys!

(I mean it won't kill me to do a bun, but I was hoping to look a little more relaxed this evening)

Messy bun? {not much use, sorry}

CurlyPJ · 16/11/2017 18:50

Oh, have you got any face or hand cream? Maybe just use a tiny bit (watered down?) to tame the frizz?

Can you do a loose plait over one shoulder?
And borrow some gel from a male colleague to smooth stray hair?

Good luck.

Braid the sides into a messy bun?

A small amount of body lotion smoothed over should tame the frizz a bit

vvviola · 16/11/2017 18:56

Ok. I think I will combine curly and oldie's ideas.

Watered down face cream and plait over shoulder.

If it doesn't work will give up and go with bun!

Yep, hand cream or similar to tame it. Failing that, a tiny bit of olive oil or something - I'm sure the hotel must have that!

vvviola · 16/11/2017 19:07

Face cream a complete revelation! Defrizzed hair enough to leave down for the moment (hair ties and clips in bag in case of need for emergency bun). Used a few clips to hold back hair a bit (still a bit of an excess volume issue!)

You are saviours!
