Cos - I'm a fan now...but...

...So today I went to a Cos store. I bought an absolutely lovely navy merino exaggerated a-line jumper to wear with dark burgundy leather leggings. The jumper is lovely, constructed brilliantly and hangs so well. I'm chuffed to bits. Sure it'll wash well too.
I've just looked it up on the website and I would never have bought it on the basis of the styling here.
Am I just not 'clever' enough? Why do they make it so hard for customers to envisage their clothes in a more wearable / relatable way?

I think they want to make sure it looks as high end as possible. It’s the image of the brand, rather than smiley and accessible.

I think the thing with the COS website is to go for the plainest stuff, don't think about their styling, think colour, neckline, material, length. So if you were looking for a navy merino jumper with a boatneck you'd see the jumper and think about it. It's no good for just randomly browsing though.

I think it's styled well on the site. I've been shopping at COS for six years and know what will fit and when to size down. I don't have a problem with the styling, I shop there for a particular item I don't need help with how I'll be wearing it.

I need help though ! I can't be the only one!

I do most of my clothes shopping online as I work FT with a commute. I've realised I buy Hush predominantly because they have helpfully styled stuff in a way I can relate to. I have large oversized tops that I never would have bought elsewhere because of it.

I went to Cos despite the website because so many lovely mumsnetters rave about it. So thanks ladies of S&B!

I think it's like The Ordinary, they want to make you work for it.

I'm probably in the minority, but I really like cos styling.

It's grown-up and smart and a little bit avant-garde. Like Tilda Swinton on the red carpet.

Love Cos, am head to toe Cos today (socks included, might have a small Cos problem) but yes, I don’t wear it like they style it. I’m not a tall model and would look a total frump in the outfit in the OP’s post.

Switch the skirt for leather leggings, however...

OP how much was the jumper? I’ve been looking for one that length.

missfliss · 16/11/2017 19:21

Chèvre it's £59 and 95% merino.
Also comes in yellow and moss green

Ooh thanks missfliss Smile

That styling is horrible! I love the jumper though, quite tempted by the yellow.

motmot · 16/11/2017 19:48

I agree their styling is weird but that seems to be their thing. I bought a merino jumper there a couple of years ago and it's been amazing, such great quality, washes brilliantly, etc. Good value too.
