Size 8- where do you get your shoes.

I can only wear flats or v low court shoes due to a bit of arthritis in my toe. I’ve been using new look until now but I’m clearing out all of the shite I’ve accumulated and I want a few pairs of smart shoes.

Where is there a good range of size 8s that I can try on and not Ben disappointed every time I a sky to try a pair on & the assistants come back to tell me they don’t do an 8!

I’m a 9 with wide feet and basically all my shoes are from Clark’s. They are excellent. Lots of classic shapes. And they last well

gunsandbanjos · 16/11/2017 08:06

Next do up to a 9

ilovecherries · 16/11/2017 08:15

I find 8 is pretty maitre these days - years ago the choice was very limited, but now I find it's fairly rare for a range not to go to an 8.

ilovecherries · 16/11/2017 08:15

Mainstream, even!

HighburyHattie · 16/11/2017 08:17

Topshop, I’m 100% sure they have size 8/9 (41/42)

ButFirstTea · 16/11/2017 08:18

I can't remember the last time I was somewhere that didn't do an 8! For work I get boots or flats from Next, H&M, River Island. Trainers I get from Nike or Adidas. Anything else from ASOS.

HighburyHattie · 16/11/2017 08:19

However it depends on what store you go to (for any brand) as they might not stock many of the smaller or larger sizes in that particular store, but have the full range online.

For example my store doesn’t carry many size 4s/16s in store, but they do exist

BankWadger · 16/11/2017 08:21

Gabor are good for long narrow feet (I can't wear most Clarks size 9)
Next, newlook, Debenhams and Office all go to larger sizes (although often not in store Hmm, so you need to order them in)

BankWadger · 16/11/2017 08:23

Rocket dog go up to an 8 (fuckers. I like the look of their shoes but am excluded by 1 size )

ZaZathecat · 16/11/2017 10:13

I'm at the top end of an 8 and in many shops the 8s don't fit me but Clarks and M&S always fit.

JuneFromBethesda · 16/11/2017 11:55

Clarks and M&S for me. I spent my teens and twenties going into shoe shops, asking for a size 8 and being disappointed, so I just stopped. I like M&S because I can see on the shelf if they have them in stock, and Clarks I order online.

Also they do proper size 8s - ie size 42 - none of this size-41-masquerading-as-an-8 nonsense!

I wear size 8 and everyone seems to stock them no problem. Unless you’re not in the UK? I find it a bit hopeless on the continent.

Nickynackynoodle · 16/11/2017 13:01

It’s the actually getting to try them on without needing to be in to receive a parcel that’s the issue really. There’s not a shop in my town that reliably stocks bigger than a 7 so I guess I’ll have to go to “big town” to have a look. The ranges may well go up to bigger sizes, it’s just having physical contact with them that I find tricky.

OP posts:
JoJoSM2 · 16/11/2017 16:04

Oh... I’m in London so perhaps that helps. If you’re going for the cheaper stuff, you’ll need to try them on. However, some of the more expensive brands are very predictable and fit like a glove without fail. My feet are quite wide as well and find Russell and Bromley, LK Bennett and French Sole shoes to be a great fit and cut to make feet look a lot more lady-like.

Notreallyhappy · 16/11/2017 17:05

Shoeaholics most high street do big sizes now. Debenhams have a decent range & Clarks for boots

Chocolatear · 16/11/2017 17:17

Clarks, M&S and Hobbs, but only in the sale!

Sainsbury's also sell size 8s but I've never bought and shoes from them.

CourtneyLoveIsMySpiritAnimal · 16/11/2017 17:43

I’m a size 6.5 but I had to buy a size 8 in Topshop boots.

I think their sizing is a bit off, tbh.

ShampagneShoshalist · 16/11/2017 18:31

Next, New Look, Dotty P on the high street, as their 8 is an EU 42.

R&B if you’ve got some cashola...
