Hi I have just treated myself to the Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 2% in squalene

Does anyone have any experience using this?

The directions say: Apply a small amount in the PM after water based serums but before heavier treatments. Can I use this product on its own without using serums etc? Also how frequently do I use it?

You don’t have to use a serum before it but do moisturise afterwards. Use an spf moisturiser if using it in the morning.
Use it max. 3 times per week.

Thank you @sparkletastic
I am looking forward to trying it out but would have thought it would come with more information!

I use the 5% version of this. I use it nightly with no adverse reactions, but have been using OTC retinols for a while. I also use the Ordinaries’ Buffet first, again with no issues. Make sure you use a moisturiser after though, to stop your skin drying out.

BuzzKillington · 15/11/2017 22:19

I use it nightly too. It's very oily. I use a night cream afterwards.

I put some on the backs of my hands. I have 2 liver spots and they have almost disappeared!

XiCi · 15/11/2017 22:21

I've been using it every night for about a week now. It's incredibly oily so don't moisturize at all after it.

Nutellalovesme · 15/11/2017 23:15

@whosebootsaretheseshoes Thank you for your reply. I haven't used a retonoid type product before so I wanted to make sure I use it correctly!

I'm using the Granactive Retinoid 5% in squalene so the strength up from your one. I haven't noticed any difference in my skin so far but would usually give a product 30 days before I passed judgement Smile. I really hate the texture though. It's so oily and makes my skin oilier and shinier in the day as well even with a good cleanse in the AM. I've had the emulsion one before which I liked so will either go back to that or switch up to the retinol. Really wish The Ordinary could get the textures of their products right. The Vit C, Azaleic and Retinoids are all awful. I like to layer products and the greasiness or thick glookiness just make it impossible. There's very little I'll repurchase because of it which is a shame.

Nutellalovesme · 16/11/2017 19:27

Have you been using the 5% one for long @xici?
I haven't used mine yet but will do later on. I hope I won't be disappointed

I just started last week with the 5% in squalane - I'd have to report back in say a month to be able to give an honest review. No adverse reactions though. I thoroughly cleanse then apply the tiniest amount of the product (literally scraaaape it across my face using a stingy amount!!). It doesn't leave your face anywhere near supergreasy so I'd say if anyone is experiencing this it could be that you're using too much??

I've JUST taken delivery of the AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution because my skin is SOOOO incapable of giving up its dead skin cells it tends to look dull, and I also (in menopause) have developed chin hairs of wire which get stuck on the way out and cause spots and lumps and bumps. I'm hoping it might ease the hair's journey out to the surface but this could take many weeks. This stuff is bright purply red! You leave it on for 10 minutes.

I shall report back in due course - I have high hopes (hope I'm right!!).

XiCi · 16/11/2017 20:38

Hmm. I've been applying a normal amount so will use less and see if that helps at all with the greasiness

Only been using a week or so OP so would need longer to see any results!

Nutellalovesme · 16/11/2017 20:43

Thanks @xici hope you get the desired results Smile
