Forward to a hot bath after a long day. Cheery email arrives today with a PS at the bottom. “We’re laying on dinner. Dress to impress!”
WTF?! Going with colleagues so it will be noticed if I don’t go. Not been in the job for long so don’t want to make a faux pas. But who the fuck am I meant to be impressing. The dinner starts a full 15 hours after I’ll have left home and schlepped across the country, goes on till 1am, and I’m supposed to make some kind of effort?!
So, what do I do? Chuck a statement necklace on with whatever I feel comfortable in—pyjamas— or what?!
