I need help with this strange request. I bought this monsoon "leather" jacket from eBay as it was listed as leather. Great I thought just what I wanted. However I'm 100% certain it's not leather but there are no tags inside. Seller won't refund as she is adamant it's leather. Does anyone own this and can you tell me if it's leather or not.

I don't own it but used to work for monsoon. It's not leather. sorry

It doesn't look like leather from the pictures - it's too shiny. I'd open a dispute with eBay.

There is a burn test which can help to confirm but I wouldn't recommend it as you'd ruin the jacket and make it non-returnable. A drop of water should eventually soak in, whereas it will puddle on plastic.

I had a leather jacket from Monsoon that I bought in store. It was the same style and you could 100% tell it was leather.

It doesn't look like leather in the pics but it's hard to tell without seeing it.

Have you pulled back the seams?

Can you not tell from the smell? I have a 25 year old leather jacket that still smells like leather. And a cheap Sainsbury's one bought last month that doesn't (because it isn't!). Alternatively I'd carefully unpick a couple of inches of the lining to have a look inside.

I have this in black and dark brown from Monsoon (a few years back, though) and they are genuine leather. Gorgeous jackets that just look amazing year after year.

Do a wee test. Set a light up lighter very closely to a small part of jacket, if it start burning , then it's not real leather, if that stays untouched, then it's real one.

Is this the same jacket? According to Polyvore it is leather: the 'Jennifer Leather Jacket', now sold out, originally £160.

I have this, or a very similar one, from Monsoon from years ago - it is beautiful leather. Which is why I bought it, I'm not really a leather jacket person but it just felt so nice!
