What shoes with wide leg trousers?

I've got two new pairs of wide leg trousers that I really like but i haven't yet found the right shoe. Wedge sandals looked good with them a couple of months ago, but bare feet obv no longer an option. Look like a short arse in flat shoes. Any ideas?

Watching with interest. I've not bought wide leg trousers although I really want them due to this problem (bloody hell! I really don't have enough to worry about do I?) I follow Trinny on IG and she recommends wearing pull on sock boots with wide trousers. They make your ankles look thin so helps with the overall look. I can't find any nice, cheap sock boots so haven't tried this yet but could see how it would work.
Alternatively trainers with sheepskin insoles for warmth.
