Mission Impossible: a Man's Chunky Rainbow cardigan!

DH has asked for an enormous chunky stripey multicoloured cardigan for xmas for several years now, the big 'ol hippy.

Year after year the only options are smelly vintage things from the '80s on eBay.

I figure if you guys can't find me one, then it's just not gonna happen! Any ideas?

Try Etsy, Not on the High Street's more homespun little brother. Have you already checked out local hippy markets?

I had a quick look on shopstyle but the only ones I could see were Gucci!

Do you know anyone who can knit?

Laska5772 · 09/11/2017 13:19

Is there anything on Pachamama this? you think he would like?

60sname · 09/11/2017 13:23

Ha, I was just browsing Loud Elephant on eBay

ElspethFlashman · 09/11/2017 16:10

China doll I think that's most similar to what he wants but he has tons of hoodies and this would be more for in the house so I suspect he really would prefer a cardigan.

That Pachamama stuff is absolutely lush. Possibly not tasteless enough, lol. We live in a coastal area and there's a LOT of Hardy Manly Fisherman Knitwear type of stuff around here if he wanted. I think he wants something that reminds him of his halcyon days of the 90s. He STILL potters around in a Baja woven hoodie, god help him.

Is your DH Noel Fielding? Grin
As I read your post he popped into my head!

Love the sound of it, please post a picture if you locate one.

I honestly could not live with that last one sitting on the sofa every night. Shock

Loud Elephant is definitely along the right lines, but aggravatingly they really really believe everything needs a hood. And everything is fleece lined and seems more outerwear. The search continues........

ukhandknitting.com

GreyFluffball · 09/11/2017 19:27

I'd try local Facebook pages for someone who could knit you one.

NinonDeLenclos · 09/11/2017 19:28

^ My link is a list of handknitters in all counties of the UK.

Caulk · 09/11/2017 22:15

I can knit you one for about £60 if you want. I’ve done stuff for other MNetters in the past.

Mumsnut · 09/11/2017 22:16

Oops. Not cardis

TheHuffAndPuffALot · 09/11/2017 22:18

Is it a baja/drug rug type hoodie he's after?

NoNoCharlieRascal · 09/11/2017 22:20

Bargain!

Caulk · 10/11/2017 11:13

I dunno, it’s not a bargain if they’re £35 on eBay!

Still happy to do it but will take a week or so so give me some notice.

NoNoCharlieRascal · 10/11/2017 18:37

Caulk it is a bargain since it would be hand made to personal specifications.

ElspethFlashman · 10/11/2017 19:35

NoNoCharlieRascal I can't find that for the life of me. Have you got a seller name?

Black yak.

NotMeNoNo · 10/11/2017 20:22

Actually if you do know a knitter, it's possible to cut open a jumper, pick up and knit button bands and convert it to a cardigan. I did it once, you machine sew the edges first to prevent unravelling.
