Dr Martens true to size

I am desperate for a pair of DMs so I’m going to treat myself to a pair for Christmas. I’m a size 5. Are DMs true to size or should I go up a size?

I normally wear a 6 and my DMs ate true to size. I tr8ed on two other styles recently too and both fit me in a 6.

If anything they are slightly big. I take a 5 but they were a bit loose when I tried (Bennett shoes), the 4 was too small.

Try them on in the shop. I believe you can go down a size.

True to size for me.

I wear a 4 and have had 'original' DM boots which I had to size down to a 3 for because they were huge.

But then I bought a pair of zip up knee high DM boots and they were tiny and I had to size up to a 5.

I'd say they're inconsistent.

But they're so comfortable that it's well worth persevering until you get the right fit.

I normally wear next shoes, size 6.5. My dr martens are a 6 and a really good fit.

True to size. Even the pointed toe ones are true to size. Which ones are you getting??

I am a size 3, in adult sizes I wear a 3, but in children's sizes I can easily wear a 2 as they are softer and easier fitting. My partner (female) is a 4, and wears a 4 but again occasionally with the softer fabrics can wear a 3. My point, I suppose, is that in our experience we can wear smaller sizes than we usually would.

All my Docs are true to size. I love them.

By all I mean all two pairs. I only have three pairs of shoes though

Sort of true to size but a bit big (sorry probably not v helpful! I'm prob a 4.5 and I wear a four in both standard 8hole boots and Chelsea boots (both with 2 pairs of socks). Particularly for lace up Doc's I found they really ripped my feet to shreds when they were too big whereas the size 4s have been fine to break in

The patent ones are a nightmare to break in and come up small from the reviews I've read. My leather ones are all a bit roomy.

The regular style DMs are true to size and quite wide fitting. The more modern styles can be hit and miss - i have 4, 5 and 6 in various styles. I'm usually a 4.5 or 5 elsewhere.

I am a 9/43 and all of mine are TTS. The width, however, varies from style to style.

What qualifications does one need to be a “shoes expert”?

True to size but wear thicker socks. Works for me!

I'm a 5.5 but in most shoes I tend to size up to a 6 as half sizes are so rare.

However I recently ordered some DM shoes - the Size 6 ones were massive and the 5 are perfect
