I'm having tear trough fillers tomorrow

Have had Botox for years but this is the first time for TT fillers. Bit apprehensive but looking forward to getting rid of the hollows under my eyes. Will do before n after pics for anyone interested.

How was it OP ConfusedConfused

Fosterdog123 · 08/11/2017 20:12

Big anti climax I'm afraid! He said that TT fillers on their own would be unlikely to give me the improvement I'm looking for. He said that the fat pads on my cheeks had slipped somewhat and they needed addressing first, to provide scaffolding. He said you then wait 4 weeks and come back for TT. He said he could go ahead if I wanted and that he had done just TT before but he wouldn't advise it. So, I decided not to go ahead. I had my 6 monthly Botox for my 11s whilst I was there, so it wasn't a wasted journey. Just got some thinking (and saving up!) to do now!

Oh and he wasn't 'upselling'! He practices internationally and trains others and has a very long wait list - he's extremely conscientious and wouldn't try to make a fast buck by recommending unnecessary treatment ignoring the fact that fillers can't really ever be described as necessary

Polly99 · 08/11/2017 20:17

How on earth do they sort out slipped fat pads??

Fosterdog123 · 08/11/2017 20:32

Well you can't physically retrieve the pads that have already gone south, so you add a bit of filler in to replace the lost volume.

Who are you using? I'd like to investigate and do like a personal recommendation...

Fosterdog123 · 08/11/2017 20:58

Dr Raphael at The Consultant Clinic.

Nooo! God I hope the same doesn’t happen to me on Friday, I’ve been waiting on these bloody fillers for 5 weeks now (and that’s just for the consultation, though they’re going to do them on the same day if I’m happy/ they’re happy etc)

Looks like I’ll be guinea pig then Grin will let you know how I get on!

ShirleyPhallus · 08/11/2017 21:25

Watching too!

ShirleyPhallus · 08/11/2017 21:26

Oh just read the update, what a shitter

PamDooveOrangeJoof · 08/11/2017 21:30

Watching with interest too. After a post on here I’ve been following The Consultant Clonic on instagram. The results look amazing. I look so tired really want to get mine done. Good luck those that are having it done!

macymacy · 08/11/2017 21:38

Best thing I've ever had. It refreshes my face, subtly, nobody has ever asked if I've had anything done but commented that I look well rested, which is exactly what I wanted!

ImMissHannigan · 08/11/2017 22:00

My twin sister and I both had Tt fillers last Thursday evening. Looked great in first 24 hours but bruising and swelling is skewing the result at the moment. We have to wait until 2 weeks has passed before a top up. I think the results are good but not amazing. I’ve suffered with black rings since childhood. Hoping that this is a comparable miracle that GHDs were for my frizzy hair!

JRT2017 · 10/11/2017 08:37

Oh god, today's the day for me, I’m so nervous. I really hope A) I can actually get something done and B) whatever is done looks good and is pain free!

AnaWinter · 10/11/2017 09:04

Good luck JRT.

MissHannigan Can you hide your bruising/swelling with make up and go out in public?

JRT2017 · 10/11/2017 18:20

Sat here with the numbing cream on 🙈 so bloody nervous 😩

Polly99 · 10/11/2017 18:22

Oooh, good luck. I hope it goes well.

WindowWiper · 11/11/2017 12:24

Hope it went well, JRT

Hmm. So I got there and he said he would never inject into the tear trough area as it is too delicate an area. He says he doesn’t believe in putting any filler in that area, which was a bit disappointing to be honest!

He said I am noticing my hollows more as I age (I’m only 30 so hardly over the Hill, but still) as my face is starting to lose volume/ sag due to aging. He said he wanted to instead, add filler to my cheeks/ cheekbones/ temple areas to ‘lift’my face and therefore make my hollows less prominent. That’s fine, except it needed two syringes to do a decent job, making the price increase from £450 to £900! I just don’t have a spare £900 at the moment so I said as much as I’d love to go ahead with that (he showed me a couple of examples and it looked really good so I really wanted to say yes) I could only afford the one syringe at the moment (as that’s all I’d booked in for Angry ) he said with 1ml syringe, the results wouldn’t really be that noticible, so it’s fine, he could do it but don’t expect dramatic results unless I wanted to go back in a couple of months and get the second syringe.

I opted just to go for the 1 syringe as I’d been waiting a month for the appointment and thought at least it would be better than nothing.

So the nurse put the numbing cream on, I waited then went back up to have the fillers. He marked about 6 tiny dots in different places around my cheek/ just under my tear trough area on my face (3 places on each side) and then proceeded. He used a canula (as asked for by me) I have to say, he was very good.

Pain wise, it really wasn’t that bad. It was uncomfortable sure, but not unbearable!

It took about 15 mins all in. With about 6/7 injections in total. So, after he’d done one side of my face, he gave me a mirror and told me to have a look. He said if he waited until he’d done both sides of my faces to show me in the mirror, I would say ‘Well there’s no diffeence’ So, actually, when he showed me in the mirror, it really did look better, even with just the little bit he’d put in. Somehow bringing some of the volume back to my cheekbones etc HAD made the tear trough area under that eye appear better than before, compared to the side he hadn’t yet done! So then he did the other side.

There was some swelling/ bruising. I am quite swollen and bruised today, nothing major and you wouldn’t really notice unless I told you, easily covered with make up etc.

I have a horrible cough at the moment and last night that literally kept me awake all bloody night. So this morning I really did look like shit, puffy eyes etc and swollen/ bruised top half of my face so it’s hard to really see how well things look/ what it’s done. I’m going to go have a couple of hours nap in a bit, I’ve been icing my face and the swelling is a lot better this afternoon, it’ll be pretty much all gone by this time tomorrow so I will all have a better idea tomorrow of what it’s done.

Feeling really regretful today that I didn’t just chuck the extra £450 on the CC and just have done the whole lot in one go though tbh. I know I would have looked a lot better today and have been really really pleased with the results had I done that.

So now I’m wondering how the hell im going to manage to save £450 til Jan with xmas etc coming up Sad but I do need to do it as there is a good if v subtle difference after 1ml, the extra 1ml would actually make me look a lot fresher, which is what I originally wanted.

Hope that essay is helpful Blush

AnaWinter · 11/11/2017 19:17

How disappointing for you. It is a shame he didn’t let you know in advance. It seems fairly common that they refuse to do that area. The tear troughs appear to be a very skilled area with a huge risk so the injector has to very confident.

With your cheeks even if you have the second injection done in the next few months you should see a bigger difference.

I would love to know how you feel about your cheeks in the next few weeks as they settle.

Fosterdog123 · 11/11/2017 19:24

Jrt - really helpful and interesting and thank you for coming back with an update. Your doc said exactly the same as mine and I just really didn't have a grand to spare.

Delatron · 11/11/2017 19:28

It's annoying that you were booked in for a procedure then he said he 'would never inject in to that area'. Why book you in then!
Thanks for the update though. Shame the costs went up so much it became prohibitive!
