What’s the right length of ankle boot

To wear at work with skirts and dresses please?

I'm no expert but I did go shopping for ankle boots on Saturday. I thought I wanted something which came up a little way above the ankle, but not mid calf but when I tried them all on the shorter ones looked better. The nicest were the Dune Pontoons featured in the October Mumsnet Recommends but they had sold out in my size in black leather, the smartest option. Eventually I got a very similar pair but with a higher heel at Ecco. One thing I really liked about the Ecco boots and shoes is that they have a clever design trick that makes the heels look higher than they really are.
