Everyday dresses for SAHM

I’m just about at the stage where I’m pretty sure I’m not going to need to breastfeed whilst out and about after 2 kids and 2.5 years of breastfeeding and I need new clothes that don’t make me feel completely fed up! I’m desperately looking for some new everyday dresses that I can throw on with leggings and boots but are practical enough for sitting on the floor at playgroups or running around and the park - any suggestions of where to look?

I’m mid 30s, tall, big boobs, want knee length (every dress from pre-kids seems so short!), decent sleeve and preferably not too high neck. I can’t justify spending a fortune but I’ll probably wear them when I hopefully go back to work in September (teacher).

I don’t feel like I know what my shops are any more!

From what you say about your shape you might be better in the Tara than the Ivy. If you don't have a free order/return code for Hush you can order from John Lewis for free to try on.

Asos are good but anything I've had bobbles quickly which has been a shame as I've had some nice shapes.

Love that checked mod cloth dress too!

Thanks all. Tonight I’m shopping!

The Hush Ivy dresses are a bit shapeless, but so, so, so soft and comfortable. I also like the Hush Cassie dresses (but the colour of the blue one is not at all as it looks on the website).

Lands' End are quite good for throw-on jersey dresses.

I also really like Hobbs' Marci shirt dresses, but they may be too short.

i keep looking at the tara and thinking that must look terrible on pears. I'm a size 14 on the bottom and 12 on the top - can't possibly be flattering for me...seasalt just started doing a longer length - overdue, I love their prints but sometimes a bit short for me.

I've just bought this in charcoal and navy. The navy is a bit thin but is fine with a cardi.

They're great for chucking on every day.

@ManInTheMoonMarigold what kind of blue is the Cassie dress as I am considering it next. Thx

ManInTheMoonMarigold · 08/11/2017 22:55

@redtulip12 The Cassie dress is more of a kind of navy-ish blue. If you look at the Hayden Joggers in indigo, that is closer to the colour.

Thank you all for your recommendations! My first 2 dresses have arrived! 😍

Next question - what are your best suggestions for black leggings or thick (really thick!) tights? Must be long! My current boden leggings are shrinking more and more with each wash but have lasted me years.

Just found the Mint Velvet thread - I’ll try them!

Try Other Stories or Cos or even Uniqlo for some slightly different from the Boden style. My teacher friends wear lots from there that can be dressed up or down.
