Leather skirt between sizes - Help! which one?

Posted on another thread but just wanted to ask on here generally.
10 is a lovely fit, neat on waist, hips but looks better - no room for bloat. 12 is bigger on waist, flappy on hips and not as nice fit wise generally. Because the waist is loose, its longer as it sits lower. Its A-line if it makes any difference. My question is, will the 10 give? Its an investment piece, so am hoping to keep it for a good few years. Should i just keep the 10 or 12?

Keep the 10, it will stretch somewhat over time and sounds to be the right size for you where the other is already on the too large side.

Why would you keep the 12?

Because its less comfortable in a 10 but it just looks way better!
I am pear shaped and the 12 looks flappy at the hips.

I’d probably go for the 12 as if want to be comfortable.

For me it would depend how/when you wanted to wear it then. If it's an everyday/work skirt then the 12. If it's something to wear on special occasions or heading out, then the 10. I have one and rarely have the occasion to wear it but when i do, I want it to look perfect not flappy Smile

I dont really go out that much. I tend to try and actually wear things. Not sure i would wear it to work though as I work in a class so could get caught on a rogue staple! Maybe when its older - not when its new.

I would go for the 10. Skirts are always annoying when too big on the waist, they seem to move around. The 12 will be uncomfortable to wear if it does that.

I already replied on the other thread and said to go with the 10!

Stupid question but: if you plan to wear it with tights have you tried it on with tights? I find they smooth the hips and waist a bit and give a bit of "slip" so things often sit better, in which case they might make the 10 fit a bit looser whereas the 12 will likely be way too big. I've made this mistake when trying things in the shop or at home in a hurry then come to find the skirt is too big once actually worn with tights.

I always go for the smallest size in this situation, I’ve not been disappointed yet. I am as equally likely to not wear an item for being too big as a bit too small and it will probably give over time. Plus, items like that keep my mind more focussed on not going overboard on cakes etc Smile

This is exactly what i was thinking. I havent tried it on with tights. With bare legs. I think it will fit better with tights :)

..and totally agree with this!

Thanks :) Think it will be the 10 :)

Definitely 10. Leather always stretches and there is nothing worse than a helter skelter spinning skirt - I had this problem and ended up safety-pinning my skirt to my top... even the cats were chortling.

Tried the 12 on again and it looks so flappy. Keeping the 10 and the 12 is going back. Thanks everyone :) Have the 10 on right now and its much nicer.

I recently had the exact same problem and went for the 10 on the basis that then waistband might stretch a bit, and in the 12 it was much too big on the hips.
