How to get lapels on leather jacket to lie flat?

Have recently shrunk into an ancient leather biker jacket - and suddenly remembered why I didn't enjoy wearing it. The lapels will not lie flat, they flap around like a pair of wings. No one else I see wearing one seems to have this problem. Is there a trick I don't know about? If I zip it up, they lie fine, it's only when it's open - but I really don't think it suits me zipped.

My AllSaints cargo has press-studs on the tips so they clip back at the shoulders. Try lying it flat on the floor with heavy books on the folded lapels?

Yes, press studs would be ideal. Wonder if there is somewhere I could take it to get that done. It's been packed flat for years and that's made on difference. Within 30 mins of putting in back on it was driving me mad.
