Leather Jackets - washed leather versus not washed

Is there any advantage or disadvantage to buying a washed leather jacket? Have ordered two from All Saiints - Cargo and Conroy. Both black. Cargo is washed, Conroy isn’t and has slightly more of a sheen but is also a heavier, weightier jacket. I love both and can’t make a decision! Help!

I've got a Cargo and I love mine because it's a bit lighter and looks quite vintage and worn-in from day one. I also have a Bales which is much thicker and heavier. I bought that in a size up so I could wear it over knitwear. Depends what look you want really!

I have just bought a cargo as well and the other choice was the convoy - i think the advantage as pp above has said is that you get the grungy distressed look from day one, and also you can be fairly relaxed about your jacket as it already looks worn in. I love being able to sling the jacket anywhere and not worry about it losing its shape, getting marks on it etc

They are both really similar, the conroy is black and maybe looks a wee bit smarter. I am not a smart dresser at all so went with the cargo

PN and mow ... you’ve really both hit the nail on the head re whether it’s the slightly dressier look or the more laid back look, I want. I can’t decide. There are elements of both jackets I love - the sleeve on the Conroy is one complete puece of leather whereas the Cargo has a seam midway down the sleeve, I think I prefer the pocket placement on the Caro, I do prefer the heavinessof the Conroy. Oh hell, decisions! I shall have to stop procrastinating and send one or both back in the next day or so.

So, really, washed leather is more about the look rather than quality. Would the Conroy (regular leather) be likely to pick up marks or scratches that the Cargo won’t?

I prefer the washed look , I had a bales ( which I sold because I lost weight ) but in all honestly it was a bit shiny for my style . I’m going to buy another one when I get to an all saints store and I’ll probably go for this style .

In my experience black AllSaints leather jackets don't mark or scratch.
It sounds to me like you prefer the Conroy!

I have the cargo in grey - bought about 4 years ago. Don’t think they do it in grey now.
A couple of things: 1. you cannot go wrong with an all saints leather jacket 2. They do wear and in hindsight i wish I’d gone with a black one as they do fade as well so it’s best to go wit a darker colour 3. The leather gets softer and softer - it’s literally my favourite item in my winter wardrobe 4. You can dress the cargo jacket up or down - I’ve worn it on nights out, to meetings and to the gym.

And btw they do mark and scratch but this is all the sign of a good quality leather.

I bought the cargo last year. I’d wanted it for so long but actually the distressed look just looked a bit shit on me. I ended up with the balfern (in ink blue) instead after trying them all on. I do love the conroy though and probably would have gone for that if a good friend didn’t already have it!

Thanks guys ... have decided to keep the Conroy and now feeling it really is the right decision, having read the most recent comments. Now, I need a day out to wear it ... hmmmm, maybe new black boots with a heel might be next on my list. Feeling ridiculously excited about it and hoping I’m not too old to rock the leather jacket look!
