Leopard print coat mid 40's - a bit Bet Lynch?

I've been toying with the idea of buying a leopard print coat.

I don't live in a big place so have wild ideas on what to wear but end up being more conservative for fear of what others think! Really stupid, I know, but I'm a bit shy.

Anyway, what do you think of leopard coats or jackets? Will it look a bit Bet Lynch or Liz McDonald? If I wear my usual boots and skinny jeans would it look ok?

Thank you Halloween Smile

Looking good!

I think you’ve all bought up most of the UK’s leopard print coats. The Zara one I had my eye on is sold out. Serves me right for dithering. Want one even more now I can’t find one. Grin

Love love love that biba one! I love the length and looks so sumptuous. I bought the Vero Moda one yesterday- I’m not 100% I need to try it on with a few different things first to check i Can pull it off! But I’ve got to say I do love feeling just a bit bet lynch.

I’m 44 and love a big leopard furry coat. I think would happily be buried in one. I have pillarbox red hair and it sort of all goes together.

And... can I ask.... I recently bought a red lipstick (I do love just blatantly copying other people’s ideas on the S&B boards- I swear I’ve never had an original idea myself) is that just going to scream old tart if I do the leopard print and red lipstick together? I’m a sweater, jeans and trainers pale redhead so totally not glam in any other respect!

zippy make sure to post a photo - I loved the look of it when Martin posted the link about 5 pages ago!!

enid stocks are definitely running low across the country but House of Fraser do have a good selection still. They are difficult to find though as searching on 'leopard' or 'animal' doesn't bring them all up. If you do that though and then click through onto one of them it'll list the others as suggestions!

zippy personally that's what I'm going for - glam coat, red lips, big hair ... and converse!

Rebecca- I do love your coat- it looks fab! I think you’ll feel and look great whenever you wear it.

Enid- H&M also have a few styles and new look. But I agree leopard print is very thin on the ground!!

Rebecca, you look amazing! It really suits you. I really regret all my years of 'appropriate' dressing. Anyway, have sent the Betty Barclay back to HoF. The sosander is mine. It's not furry, but it truly is a coat of beauty. I love it.

Luckylips the outfit with the red boots looks really cool. I think your frenemy might have had a touch of the green eyed monster! I would say to have fun. I went through a post baby blur and am enjoying getting my style mojo back Grin

Cherries that Sosander coat is a thing of beauty.

I feel like I wimped out getting the black / grey colourway but I have to say I do love it (although I haven't plucked up the courage to wear it yet)!

Martin you need to wear it! I think I probably should have gone for the grey colour way too it’s way more versatile. I bet it looks great on you!

Martin, the only solution is to put it on and sashay right out the door without stopping or asking opinions. Having decided to take the HoF one back, I actually put the sosander one on just to walk to the PO - with trainers and jeans underneath. I knew if I didn't whip the label off and wear it, I'd till be dithering in spring. No one passed out Grin

After a night with my coat I've had a change of heart. It's lovely but it's not really day wear - and I'd only have to put on a bit of weight to look like Bungle.

I want something that can be used for the school run, work and wear out in the evenings. The Biba one just wouldn't be right for work and a possibly a tad ott for the school run.

So I'm going to return it and be patient for the Sosander one to come back into stock.

ilovecherries please post photos of yours so I can lust after it from afar Grin Grin Grin

Shock Noooo!
If you were saying you couldn't afford it then I would keep my big mouth shut but honestly, you look bloody great in that coat and clothes that do that don't come along very often. You should wear it everywhere, night and day.

seriously? argh!!!

I just don't want to regret not waiting for the one I really wanted. And I did fall in love with the Sosander one immediately I saw it!

Yes seriously! Sorry I'm not normally this bossy in real life Grin

I'd missed the bit about the Sosander coat being the one you'd fallen in love with. How long have you got before you have to return the Biba? Any chance of hanging onto it until the other one's back in stock? (At this time of year, I'd imagine they'd want to restock fake fur pretty fast.) Then you could do a comparison.

But honestly sometimes the best buys are happy accidents.

Grin not bossy flo - you are persuasive!

I've got 28 days to return the Biba, so I could ring Sosander in the morning and see what they reckon for the re-stock ...

I'm with Flo on this. I love my Sosander - and it's a huge step for me to wear it. But it's a normal coat that just happens to be leopard print. For me, that's what I want. But you looked beyond fabulous in that Biba. It's an exceptional coat and it suits you amazingly well. Clearly you do need to be prepared to wear the thing, and if you really can't, then fair enough. But don't let societal expectations make that decision for you. Sosander you might get two years out of. Biba is a coat for life.
