Philips lumea comfort

I have decided to start using my Philips lumea again to give it one more chance to work before i decide to sell it. I gave up last time because I found it was just my shaving that was keeping the hair away, not that it was actually slowing the growth. I know I have to use it regularly; so far I've done 2 sessions, a week apart.

How long until I see, or can expect to see, results? I have pcos and the hair on my face is so bad now, I cannot go a day without removing it in some way, it grows so fast. I can pluck 100+ hairs daily from my chin and neck although I haven't been as I know lumea doesn't work if you pluck the hairs. Could I/ should I use lumea more regularly as clearly my hair cycle is fast?

I am feeling very down at the moment, and the constant hair removal is contributing to that. The other day I drove to get petrol, and hadn't done my face, so actually turned round on the forecourt and left because i couldn't face getting out of the car and going into the petrol station to pay.

Any words of wisdom?

Not sure how long it took but it’s definitely slowed growth for me.

I just used according to instructions. There’s an app you can download that reminds you when to use it.

Keep at it and good luck.

I use smoothskin gold so a different make (likely to be about £200 on Black Friday) and it says to do it every week for 12 weeks before you do it less often, I think it took at least 6 weeks to make a substantial difference and I've never got to the point where I can use it less than a week or two apart. I have pcos too and my low point was when dd2 asked me how DH had wiped his beard onto me (she was 4 at the time). I have so much more confidence now but still shave any stray hairs once a week.

I think there is a difference between hair cycle and how fast hair grows. My lumea instructions state once every 2 weeks - it is to do with the resting phase of the growth cycle. So in effect, you have only done one treatment, not two. So do the next one in one week again to take you back on track for the second scheduled treatment, and then do the 3rd and 4th at two week intervals after that. After that, you can assess whether it is working. It may be that you need a couple of extra treatments after that, or hopefully you may not.

If you google how it works (or read what Phillips say) you will understand that the treatment is not about 'zapping' your hairs as often as possible until they die, but about causing the growth cycle to enter a semi-permanant resting phase.

I couldn't bear shaving my chin hairs, I just had to pluck. I made up my own routine of zapping and then plucking the hair out the next day. My chin hairs have all but disappeared. I've just got the white nuggets which the Lumia can't shift.

Nuggets = hairs (wtf auto correct)

Dealt with my chinny hairs too. Probably did it once a week for about 12 weeks and now just as and when.

Lion did it work doing that though? I thought plucking would interrupt the cycle? I hate shaving it too, but it definitely takes less time and I want this to work this time- it was too expensive to just not use!
