Matching red lipstick with coat- is this tacky?

Hello lovely ladies,

I got an unreal coat today to wear at Christmas. Planning on wearing a black dress and heels with it.

I don't really wear lippy or much makeup generally and know very little about it. I have dark brown hair, bluey-grey eyes, a cool complexion. I've never found a red lipstrick that doesn't make me look like a clown.

My question is, if I wore a red lipstick to match my coat, would this be a bit tacky/daft looking?

With your colouring you’ll need a blue- red shade.

I think it would look lovely. Barry M do a lovely blue-red matte liquid lipstick that stays in place.

Oh ok, thanks very much. Can anyone suggest a nice blue red which ia reasonably cheap? I'm a student. Plus points if I'll be able to get it in a local Superdrug...

Superdrug MUA lippy is £1 and it's fantastic. They do a coral and a red, which would go with your coat. They also do coordinating lip liner which is worth doing as bright lipstick needs to be tidy to look good.

What I would say is that the cut is quite straight at the back whereas I prefer something more fitted, but I gather that's the in look right now.

Red can look lovely but not on me! You need a wider mouth and it can make your teeth look a bit ivory coloured.

I think anyway...

I would wear a bright pink or a nudes eirh a red coat.

Definitely won't be matching.

I like matching personally but that's because I like to plan my make up, I'll second Revlon Fire and Ice.
