"tween" beauty products

I admit, i love a beauty product myself and appear to have transferred said love to the 10 yo 😳.

As I really don't want her stealing my stash - she's been foraging- and am clueless about pre teen products, what -if any- products that aren't expensive are available for this age group?

i don't want to encourage a more grown up than i need or in anyway sexualise dd BUT as she's blatantly curious i'd like to instil an encouraging but bob scary regime of "beauty".

Are there products out there? Do i want to fall down this rabbit hole? Would i like to remain in control of my clinique mascara? HELP!

What can i get that will make her feel a bit more grown up, without making her a grown up.

It's best to use a simple emollient cream/lotion...emollients are non-cosmetic and moisturising without perfumes.

DD is obsessed with lip balms. There's a whole world of flavours out there that don't necessarily need to include colours. They tend to have cute packaging as well.

What about bath stuff? Bubble bath or bath oil, bath pearls, scented soaps in different shapes were all a hit around that age as far as I remember.

Once I noticed my Dior foundations starting to run out and my benefit mascara was suspiciously messy , I knew that was time for them to have their own things . I don't want them obsessing over mac etc so I've tried to gently steer them into other feel good beauty brands- namely the body shop and lush and I also buy them those cheap face masks you can buy from a supermarket so they do pretend spa days in their room . They still like makeup though , so haven't seen any harm in letting them buy bits from maybelline and Rimmel etc . The rule is though they can mess about with it at home and stick to lip gloss when they go out if they feel like it .For special occasions like parties , a bit of blush and a tad of lipstick but I don't worr about it too much as it seems to fade within an hour because it's cheap.

I don't think you can buy from the internet, but I've seen some of these products in John Lewis.

my dd used the MUA range at Superdrug to practice / play with, it was pocket money prices and didn't really matter if it didn't suit as she was just using it at home / sleepovers.

MUA is a very good range, and they also carry oodles of others at sensible prices. Plenty to experiment with!

Primark has a massive make up and cosmetics range now, very reasonable prices, my dd 12 loves it and stops her from nicking my expensive stuff!

Absolutely second Superdrug and primark
Superdrug usually have a 3 for 2 and the Mua range is great for trying stuff . I let them do a little Superdrug shop at the start of half term as a treat and it came in handy because they've been in their room messing with it over the week. I get cheap micellar wipes as well so they can clean their faces otherwise they use my cleansers too

my mascara is yet to be found.....

Great thread! Have lost count of my products that suspiciously end up in DD’s (10) room

She’s all about the makeup, not so much skin care so, Am trying to encourage her to start with cleansing her face properly and maybe a spot of mosuturiser.
However she is a lazy tike and doesn’t wash her face so is cleansing water (can’t remember official name) the most suitable product?

Any recommendations for products?

Can anyone recommend a good vanity case/ washbag for a tween?

Saw some on the above websites, also next had a couple i think! Saw some lipglosses that were my little pony in Aldi too but not sure dd would be overly keen. Could work though!

I only get mine to cleanse if they've been playing with makeup . I got them micellar wipes as they do a thorough job and they're not going to be very good at traditional cleansing - they'll probably do a rushed , half hearted job. I think daily cleansing will upset teenage skin and it's best to leave it alone ( if it's not broke , don't fix it ) for now.
