How do you put castor oil on lashes

Do you use an old mascara brush and put it on like mascara and do you just do lashes or need to get to the roots.

Or what about a cotton bud along lash line, what is best?

Cotton bud. Tried a mascara wand but it was too runny and just dripped all over my face.

I use a mascara wand, and apply from roots to tip.

I bought a pack of disposable mascara brushes from eBay. But no matter what I did I woke up with gungey eyes.

I put it on cotton wool and use it as an eye makeup remover. It leaves a layer for overnight.
