Leather jackets in the rain

I don't have a 'sensible' coat that will handle rain. I just can't find one I like! I only have denim jackets and big 70s style fur type things...

Would a (vintage) leather jacket be alright in rain? (with a layer of scotchguard and umbrella)

Or do I need a sensible adult coat to stand on the playground in Grin

My dd (14yrs) has just told me I don't suit the cherry red leather jacket (fake but tasteful) I've bought. Not because she doesn't like it but it doesn't go with my mumsy breton stripe image. Obviously I'm keeping the jacket and will be wearing to every upcoming school function.

Oh and back to you OP - no you need a sensible adult coat for playground because it's feckin' freezing in the winter. Stylewise, go for your life but you won't care about looking good when the hypothermia sets in Grin. Spring and autumn your leather jacket will be great.

I bet your cherry red jacket is awesome!
