Fishnet tights under ripped jeans?

I saw fishnet tights styled like this on the New Look website, and would not have thought of wearing them this way: is this a thing?
And they were black fishnets worn with white trainers, but would dressy shoes work as well, eg black platform court shoes?

It's def a thing... I see lots of the young folk wearing such.

Definetly a thing amongst the teens I see in town but usually with those jeans that are so ripped it's bordering in ridiculous.
I used to wear similar in my late teens early 20s goth/mosher phase and still think I looked pretty cool.

I used to be a big thing amongst the yoof a while back. Not a thing any more though as far as I am aware.

It looks great. If you’re 17.

I wear fishnet tights under (not ripped) cropped trousers to prevent chilly ankles, usually with brogues or trainers. I also have crocheted knee-high things for with jeans/Chelsea boots.

I’m 40 and wear fishnets under ripped jeans with trainers Grin always get complements too so hopefully looks good! I really like the look Smile

Jeez, has this come back around? I actually owned a full fishnet body stocking as a teen to wear under low slung ripped jeans and a slouchy ripped crop top. No way do I think this is something that should come back around, but clearly the yoof think otherwise!

PS if you're no longer at school this fashion is not for you IMO.

I’d say each to their own, if you suit it and can carry it off then go for it Wink just because I’m 40 now won’t stop me wearing anything that suits me, age is just a number Grin

I agree kez, I realised I'd been a bit hasty as soon as I posted my reply. I think it's because I remember wearing it myself aged 17 that I can't imagine wearing it now, but that's not to say it wouldn't look good to anyone who doesn't share my cringe-worthy teenaged memories!

I wouldn't wear it now (but I'm 47!) but I like it as a look- but def with trainers, not courts! (IMO anyway!)

I wore this on my first date with DH. They were white fishnets and I wore them with pale ripped jeans Grin
This was mid 00's though!

I despise ready ripped jeans, which I concede is a little extreme but I believe rips should be earned, not bought in River Island. However I like a flash of fishnet with cropped trousers / jeans, as Judy describes, and it's surprisingly effective at fending off the cold.

Ah I loved wearing that kind of thing when I was 17.

I used to wear this back in the 90's!! Grin
Ripped (to the point of indecent) bleached in places and then fishnets underneath.
Worn with DM's and some sort of indecent top. Grin

I remember the 80s.

Tights under ripped jeans. Not just fishnets, either.

I used to pass The Sock Shop kiosk at Paddington Station every Saturday (going home from work) and bought a pair of novelty tights a week.

I was devastated when I put a hole in my leopard prints. Haloween Sad

This is hilarious! I rocked ripped Levi’s with lace or fishnet tights underneath back in the mid 80s Grin

Back then, you had to distress your jeans by hand, none of this shop-bought nonsense! Kids these days, etc etc grumble grumble...

Ps no, OP, I really don’t think it would work with platform court shoes.

Thanks for advice, everyone; will give this look a try, dressed down with trainers and a jumper (age 53).

Oh yes, I remember that from the eighties.

Deliberately buggered clothing that you pay for makes you a walking joke, but each to their own.

I like fishnets, but don't like ready ripped jeans. Not that fond of the look actually, but if it suits you then go for it .
