Rhodium plating white gold rings. How much per ring?

My engagement and wedding band need re plating to look bright again.
I asked in an independent jewellery shop and they said because they send them away it will be £100 per ring.
I’m based in East Anglia in a typically expensive town.
Has anyone had their rings done and how much did it cost?

Hi, I have, and was £20 for my engagement ring. I'm in SE Wales. I did buy my rings from the jewellers that sent it to be redipped, but it's still a big difference, definitely shop around.

£40 from Ernest Jones (which is where mine was from) still got sent away - was about 2 weeks

About £20-£30. £100 is a joke!

I’m looking online but most high st jewellers websites are saying they do it for free if you bought the ring from them recently.
I’ve seen kits online for about £110 so I could do it myself. No idea how to do it though!

Not that they are particularly valuable just very sentimental.

I recently had my broken ring fixed at a high end London jewellers and they replated it while they were at it for 100 quid all in, so you’re definitely being overcharged.

At least you have an idea of a price range now so you can go to another jewellers and not be ripped off op

Do you know how much it is to have an engagement ring re set? I need my sapphire re set on my ring as the little claws have disintergrated. Is that the same as plating?

Ive used Ernest jones twice. First tine it was about £20 per rung but now I think it’s £40/ring.
I need to ask around actually as mine need doing.

I went to an independent jeweller, £25 per ring, picked them up an hour later. It is worth checking the independents.

Why would they have to send them out? Rhodium plating is a basic piece of kit for a jeweller.

duckduckmouse- having a claw replaced is not the same as plating. Cost depends on what your ring is made of.

If it's white gold- I'd budget around £30-£50 per claw- you might be cheaper getting a new setting in which case cost will depend on the type of setting and whether they have the bits lying around or if they have to be ordered new. In any case ask for the price of both before you get it fixed to make sure you're getting the best deal.

I charge £20.00 for all standard ladies rings super heavy will use more so I would have to add a little extra.
