There is no best of anything, there is no one size fits all. The foundation that looks wonderful in your 20s, will look awful in your 40s, the moisturiser that works perfectly on a kind of dry skin, will cause spots or blackheads on a kind of oily skin. The concealer that covers blemishes will highlight dark circles. The mascara that suits short but thick lashes will look silly on longer, thinner ones. The nude lipstick that looks great on one skin tone will make a woman with a different skin tone look like she hasn't slept for days and has yellow teeth. The acid toner that makes one middle aged woman look five years younger will case massive problems that will takes months or even years to resolve on another.

That's why Boots' shelves are heaving and there's still room for five hundred million other retailers.

If you're really specific about the kind of concerns and skin you have, others with similar issues will be able to tell you what's worked for them but it's still no guarantee it will work for you.

chinalass · 26/10/2017 17:36

Ok I have large pores
Problematic jaw line at time of the month
Mid 30s

Well what suits one won't suit another, nothing gets my hair smooth like Tresemme luxurious moisture but might make your hair lank.
I've never met better mascaras than those from Miss Sporty at pocket money prices and I love Boots Time Delay products.

I have had a long term love of L'oreal products but I love an Asprin mask (great for those pesky spots)

I like Revlon lipsticks as they last a long time.

It's a minefield isn't it? finding those products that are perfect for you.

SilentlyScreamingAgain · 26/10/2017 22:25

If you really want the best in skincare, go to a derm and see if you can get some Retin A, it's amazing...if it suits you.
