I posted here a while ago looking for advise for an interview. I took it and got myself a lovely suit and managed to bag the job Smile

However now i have to purchase a whole new work wardrobe as my current position is super casual (converse and hoodys casual). So i have about 400 to spend which needs to include shoes I can walk in and enough clothes for a week. I currently had 2 pairs of nice black trousers, 2 nice blouses and 2 cardigans. And thats it.......

I have chunky calves and like flat shoes (not the ideal situation) but I would like to get a couple of nice dresses.

Thank you in advance if anyone has any suggestions

I quite like tk maxx, I’ve found some nice blouses and trousers in there recently.

Hobbs sale is your friend

skunkrat · 24/10/2017 14:52

Shoes - dune sale, Nine West

Congratulations on the job. Try Boden for wrap dresses, Joules for jackets, M&S for shoes. Sometimes both Tesco and Sainsbury’s do quite passable jersey dresses too.

skunkrat · 24/10/2017 15:03

I'd second Sainsbury's

I'd also recommend Peacocks. Not somewhere I usually shop but I managed to find very reasonable workwear.

COS... loads of comfortable smart dresses

Singleandproud · 24/10/2017 15:31

Dorothy Perkins dresses are cheap and will see you through unless its a very corporate environment. I wear mine with Clarks hamble oaks and 120 black dernier tights. Their billie and blossom range come to knee height on me (5ft6) but when I buy from their own range I normaly buy from the tall section otherwise they are midthigh.

fluffiphlox · 24/10/2017 15:32

Hobbs.

uthredswife · 24/10/2017 17:34

That's amazing! Thanks so much for the replies. I've loads to work with there. Particularly shout out to singleandproud. That's exactly the type of detail I need

Hobbs have 20% off at moment and Boden 25% off till end Thursday.

JoeMaplin · 24/10/2017 18:05

This hangs beautifully and looks way more expensive than the price.

Ps I'm 5 ft 8, size 14 and normal length is fine in this dress.

Jaimx86 · 24/10/2017 18:14

A casual work wardrobe - I'm very jealous! How old are you? Would the attached style be right, or is it too informal?

Argh, sorry! Seen that you're moving into a more formal environment.

uthredswife · 24/10/2017 18:24

Jaim, it sounds great. But too much of a good thing.... as a result I'm a 35 married mother of 2 who looks like I should be smoking behind the bike sheds Confused.I find it so hard to dress as a grown up. It should be noted I do have a very senior role.

Jo that dress is beautiful, I just ordered it Smile

uniqlo easy care trousers. their jumpers and blouses are very smart too, size large if you're a 14, XL if you're a 16.
