Bespoke engagement ring recommendations

Hi,

I’m planning to get my engagement ring custom designed - I have a specific idea in mind, and an ethical approach to sourcing the jems is important to me.

Any recommendations for jewellers you’ve had a good experience with when designing a piece of jewellery?

My dp worked with McCaul Goldsmiths to design and make mine. It's amazing!

Take a look at www.oaklandjewellery.com/ my friend is the jeweller and she's brilliant and makes some amazing pieces, I know she does bespoke rings

Consider whether you truly need a 'bespoke piece'.

Depending on your design- an existing ring shank could be amended and that could save you hundreds if not thousands in casting costs.

I also don't see the point in paying, say, £6000 to commission a piece when the resulting outcome is only worth £3000 (although I've seen worse than that!).

'Ethical gems' can end up costing a fortune for a piece of paper. My own way of staying ethical but being cost efficient is to use 2nd hand or vintage stones.

Speak to a few independents, see what they think of your vision. Go with a budget in mind and see what they recommend. It's very easy to get ripped off.
