This summer, did you find a spf 50 for under make up that you really love?

We're just coming into summer here. I'm fed up with using my birthday to get the one dermalogica spf that feels like normal moisturiser ...there must be a cheaper alternative! It's usually £55-65 ish and I'd love something amazing for under. ..20?25? Thanks.

Vichy dry-touch capital soleil.

Ollivander84 · 23/10/2017 17:17

Body shop or biore watery essence. I use moisturiser with both

wizzywig · 23/10/2017 17:18

Biore and body shop

CiderwithBuda · 23/10/2017 17:27

Heliocare. Bought first one from doctor who does Botox/fillers etc. Now I buy on Amazon.

Also like Ultrasun. Although it stings my eyes a bit.

Interesting thread. I want to use spf 40 - 50 all year. Currently use Clinique City Block spf 40 but it's really too orange under my foundation when applied in a layer thick enough to work.

I also have:
One by Skinceuticals
Bare Minerals Prep Start spf 50 (lovely at first but very oily- foundation disappears.)
LRP tube of spf50+ gel cream - pills and is really thick despite MN rave comments.
Olay Regenerist moisturiser with spf 30, It's okay but perfumed.

The thing is, none of these are going to last all day when applied at 8am or earlier.

I'm also using Dior Star foundation spf 30.

ElspethFlashman · 23/10/2017 18:55

Polly I found the gel-creme to be absolutely woeful. Really disappointing. I don't think I even finished it.

Maraki · 23/10/2017 22:04

Biore water essence, it is amazing! You don't feel it at all, doesn't interfere with makeup but really protects your skin.

I use moisturiser with it too as my skin is very dry.

lborgia · 23/10/2017 23:17

Maraki, others, presumably you use the water over the moisturiser?

Interesting to see so many using Body Shop. I don't even think of it for anything. ..haven't been in one of their shops for years!

Might get a bottle of soltan in my annual boots orderGrin

I currently use helocare over elemis moisturiser. It's great if you let it sink in for a while.

starsky22 · 23/10/2017 23:32

I use Vichy dry touch spf 30, not sticky at all, goes on really well and preferred it to LRP. Vichy do an spf50, so might be worth a try.

ClaudiaWinklepants · 23/10/2017 23:37

Another vote for the the Body shop one. Was very dubious to try but it’s so light compared to the others I have previously used - LRP, clarins etc - I have continued to buy that one this year.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 23/10/2017 23:42

Someone gave me the Benefit Dream Screen, it's factor 45. Goes on quite dewy and don't know how it would be under a heavy foundation, but I liked it and it was non-clogging which is unusual for me on such a high factor.

pleasestopsnoring · 23/10/2017 23:43

Boots protect and perfect do a spf50 which is great, most importantly for me was no spots, which I usually get with an spf

IfYoureHappyAndYouKnowIt · 24/10/2017 00:10

I'd suggest the new Body Shop one that people have mentioned. The Biore formula changed a few months back and it now leaves a white cast. The Body Shop one is the closest to Biore that I've found and usually available with a discount code.

Peppermeant · 24/10/2017 09:10

What is the Bodyshop one? They only seem to have spf 15 where I am.

SandLand · 24/10/2017 10:04

Just seen the body shop one here (middle east) so bought it. What price is it in the UK? Equivalent to £20, but uf it gives me suitcase space.....

SandLand · 24/10/2017 10:06

This us what I found. Hope it's the one you all like!!

buckeejit · 24/10/2017 10:10

Biore here or ultrasun. LRP made my makeup pill. Have just bought Clinique cityblock in spf40 I think.

TheMagicToyshop · 24/10/2017 10:15

SandLand that’s the Body Shop one I use and it’s my absolute favourite, it’s so lightweight and fresh feeling.

wineandworkout · 24/10/2017 10:15

I use a Tropic Malibu spf50 that I get for £1 in Poundland. I have quite clear skin so I don't use foundation - I just blot my face with tissue after applying the spf (as it's quite shiny though not exactly greasy), apply a small amount of powder, then my make up. The only thing I don't like about it is that the UVA protection is only 4-star rather than 5, but given the price and the fact that I don't seek out the sun, it's fine.

repetitionrepetition · 25/10/2017 20:18

cane and austin usually but this summer I also thought kiehls was excellent

SlipperyLizard · 25/10/2017 20:25

Another fan of the body shop one, it is completely non-greasy and protected my face when my arms (foolishly without sun cream) got quite burnt.

Mominatrix · 25/10/2017 20:35

I use La Roche Posay (pictured above) and Kiehl's. I prefer the Kiehl's - it really is very light feeling and does not result in the same weird face pallor which many sunscreens cause.

vaz119 · 25/10/2017 20:47

I've been using bioderma photoderm nude touch. It's got a very slight tint (not enough coverage for me in the UK but fine on holiday) and it sits really nicely under makeup.

I order it from easypharmacie in France. They do free delivery over £29 so I just order the other French Skincare things I normally buy from boots (which are cheaper on here anyway)
