Nose piercing. What to expect

I'm going through a bit of a mid life crisis and considering getting the mose piercing I wanted at 16, but was too scared to get as I was worried about my Mum's reaction.

I am now 40, and probably too old to do this, bit meh! Grin

So how much does it hurt and how is the healing process? Smile

Mine didn't hurt any more than having my ears done.

Healing wise, mine wasn't healed proberly for 3 months although apparebtly that's a really long time for a nose piercing to heal.

There have been a few threads on this recently. There are loads of MNers around who will be able to share their experiences.

I have mine done; I love it. Go to a reputable piercer who pierces with a needle and uses titanium jewellery to avoid any potential reaction. To clean it, dissolve 1/4 teaspoon sea salt in 8oz cooled boiled water and use cotton pads to soak gently for ten minutes, twice a day.

Don’t fiddle with it, only touch it with clean hands, avoid swimming during the first few weeks of healing and FFS don’t catch it on a towel / clothing / hairbrush Grin

Forgot to add; mine stung a bit and made my eyes water. But as pp said, no more painful than an ear piercing.

Thanks guys that's really helpful. I've already found a reputable piercing place. My biggest worry is catching it on stuff.

Ooh ooh I just had mine done last weekend! It's a titanium ball closing ring.

It wasn't that painful at all, there was a weird crunching sensation as the needle went in and then it did hurt a bit when the piercer put the ring in but it was all over so quickly that I barely had time to register what was happening!

It was a bit sore for a few days but is now healing really well. I'm giving it a gentle dab with salt water daily on the advice of my piercer and that seems to help.

I love it and wish I'd done it years ago. Go for it!

Here's a pic!

Jesustapdancing completely off topic (sorry op) but is that your natural hair colour? It’s lovely

LemonBreeland · 22/10/2017 21:29

That looks fabby. I've never been keen on rings, but that one is small and looks lovely.
