Kind of bra intervention but dd's first bra.

She's done the measuring as per the usual recommendation. She's 27 below and 34 across. Can anyone tell me what that means in English please and recommend a good first bra? She's been wearing crop tops for a few years, said point blank no for a bra, but I feel she needs more support now and is ready to try a bra.

The only shops we can get to tomorrow which sells bras are Sainsbury's and marks and spencer.

She will not be fitted by a stranger and won't try on in the shop. She has physical difficulties so I won't be making her. I'll just go back and forth when necessary.

You might struggle in either of those shops. The closest anywhere will sell will be a 28F, so you’ll need somewhere more specialist than a Supermarket / m&s.

Be prepared to spend a lot and struggle to get one that isn’t too grown up :(

28F?!?!? How? She's 14 . She's smaller than me and I'm a FF in Debenhams and a G in M&S.

We could go to Bluewater later in the week if there's anything there you could recommend? I'd rather not go to Leia off the top of my head. I've been twice and not had a good experience.

You'll be to go to a 28 back, for the simple reason that absolutely nowhere stocks smaller.

I make it that your start point size would be 28E, but you'll struggle to find it. 30DD is essentially the same size (though different proportions)

If you have a Bravissimo nearby, go there. Debenhams often have go choice too.

Is she def 34inches across? That’s 6in different from the band measurement, hence the f cup.

Sports bra is a great idea and I think would appeal to her. Are they sized too or is it small, medium, etc?

It varies. My Nike one is s/m/l but under armour is size 10/12/14 etc. Different shapes so some go over your head ans some have a zip

Can she google the "boob or bust" method of measuring? It is usually spot on.

A 28f isnt actually all that big, and depending in what band size then your G cup could look much bigger.

I get my dds bras in primark, loads to choose from including sports bra type bras. But I don’t understand how she could get to 14 and be an f cup and never had a bra before?

I got some 28D bras from Boux Avenue online. They might do E or F cup? It’s not a massive bra size, I have tiny boobs. I used to wear a 32B before I did the intervention measurement.

Just order a few different sizes for her to try on in the privacy of her room? I don’t think it’s a big problem her not having a bra until now, my boobs held up until I got pregnant/entered late 30s so sure she has a while yet!

What is your back size?

The volume of a cup changes depending on the back band. The volume of an F with a 28 back band is a lot less than an F with a 34 band, for example.

I took DD into M&S, helped ourselves to every combination of sizings we could find in their Angel (?) range and went and did a mammoth try on.
We chose the bra that fitted best, regardless of the size on the label.
Then we went and had cake and hot chocolate.

I'm looking on line but the only bras in Boux are too sexy for a child. Am I allowed to call her a child? . She wears a size 8 in her new tops and the same in her jean jeggings. We'll look tomorrow as we are going out and we have to start somewhere but then try the main shopping centre if no look in the morning.

I've measured 32&34 but have to get a 36 as can't cope with too tight a band as I have asthma.

Perspic - is the angel range with the children's stuff or the ladies as I've not seen it my local branch for years?

They also had some starter bras in the children's underwear - I think we tried those too .
