Talk to me about leggings…

Are they really THAT bad? Having two pregnancies in two years has made them very much my friend. I just love the slouchiness of them, and dressing them up with a nice big knit or whatever. Now the weather has dropped, I’ve been wearing jeans for the last week or so & they just don’t do it for me; I feel so uncomfortable in them. I’ve got two young DC so need to wear practical, sensible stuff with hopefully a bit of style thrown in. I do like a dress & tights combo, usually with Chelsea boots but for the days that I can’t even be assed for that…providing my arse is covered by my top (the biggest faux pas of leggings outside the gym IMO is showing ones behind), are thick(ish) black leggings with a long t-shirt/knit/thin jumper ok? Or, what alternatives can I consider? Help me oh stylish ones!

I like leggings, but only ever with a longline vest or cami then with a thin knit or very chunky oversized jumper over the top. Next do some cheap long camis that come down my thighs. Never should they be worn as trousers nor with dresses which are long enough to be worn with tights.

Yes I always Layer with a long vest over leggings then a top on top
I dislike having the crotch section on show but I'm like this with jeans as well

Me too with jeans! I hate anything hugging at my bum BlushConfused. I must be in the minority who prefer skirt/dress with tights over jeans.

I love those biker leggings Loadsa, I'll have to look out for those.
I wear leggings a lot usually under a dress with docs or ankle boots.
The best ones I've had were from Primark (the only decent clothing I've had from there). The support type ones very stretchy packaged like tights. I've a few pairs the oldest are about 5years and still going strong.
I bought a regular cotton pair from Primark, proper shite split on first wear.

I hate the way tights either squinch themselves up or down through the day. I wear leggings with long (at least mid thigh) tops or dresses and boots. I avoid cheap ones as they tend to go see through more easily, but the only times I've ever thought someone had made a poor choice by wearing them have been people with very poorly toned or beyond ample bums and thighs squashed into cheap leggings with pants (or bumcrack) visible through them Confused

I rarely see them now on the over 35s. Most people wear skinny jeans or thick tights under dresses. A few dinosaur shops like m and S sell them but shops for younger people tend to go for the sporty leggings for the slim, fit and young.

Matalan had nice biker leggings too
