I buy online, direct from their website hairstory.com/. They are US based but do ship ot the UK. No UK suppliers yet.
The upshot of this is that it ain't cheap - 44 pounds a bottle (whereas its $40 dollars) so its more in pounds than it is in dollars at the moment. Direct exchange rates suggest it should be around 30 pounds.
I've joined their 'club' where you get a massive bottle / refill $98. I started using it in June and have just received my second order, so it lasts. Don't expect to need another until after christmas, so 3+ months away.
As i said, i've got two of their styling products and expect both to last over a year, as i don't use them every time I've washed, nor much of them when i do. So overall factoring in:
- fewer products overall
- less washing (I sometimes go three days between washes which i would never have done before)
- less time blow drying
- better condition hair
- better for the environment
I feel it's worth it. Hope it gets more popular and a UK supplier picks it up as the price will come down.
I have very fine hair i have never coloured. Could be shiny and gorgeous after washing, but easily heat damaged, could get lank, tended to greasyness. I would have to wash it every other day, then it needed conditioner, mousse, blow dry. And would still start to look heat damaged.
now it is naturally shiny once I've washed it and let it air dry. No halo of heat frizzed hair around my head. It can be a little flat, so i scrunch some Hair balm through it once totally dry to give a little volume. Looks great.
if i want to look a bit more va va voom i use a little heat on it nearly dry, using Dressed Up beforehand to protect and hold. Looks FAB when i do this.
Their take is, whatever your hair type, standard foaming shampoo strips out all the stuff your hair makes to care for itself and then it reacts to that. So dry hair gets dryer, greasy hair greasier etc. Conditioner etc is just to try and undo / replace what shampoo strips off. So if you don't strip it off your hair will be in better condition, naturally.
They say it suits any hair type and i can believe that.
Probably not for you if you WANT to do a lot of heat styling every day, but otherwise, for working with the natural state of your own hair to look great, it's a winner.
