Tights - how do you not confuse yours and DDs?!

Both wear black and navy, all go in same laundry bin and wash and then no one cba to sort and there’s no easy way of identifying them, is there? She’s medium I’m large. I don’t care but she gets all “they’re yours” shouty🙄

Fold and knot legs together for the larger size, just a knot for smaller. I had to invent a system to prevent school uniform wars every morning.

My husband used to get in a terrible muddle. We solved problem by sewing a couple of stitches in the waistband with a different colour for each female. We did same with socks, boxers and towels (different colour ribbon to hang them up for towels).

Coloured stitches were what my mum used with 3 girls

I'm the only tights wearer in my house but I hand stitch a few loose stitches in bright green cotton in the waist band of navy tights so I can tell them apart from my black ones. Knots (in relevant leg/s and approx location) indicate slightly snaggly tights that can be worn with knee-high boots but not court shoes. Simples!

Great ideas. I actually tried to squeeze my fat behind into my daughters size 8ish tights in the gloom this morning. Was a confusing moment.

When I take the dry tights off the drying rack and put half on my pile and half on DD's pile

DD14 is same height as me so all black opaques in our house are size L

Mine is 8 and I am 6ft....so we work it out.

I am too lazy to sew string in my tights, I know there will be problems in the future though.

Not tights, but I do the 'put a couple of coloured stitches in the top' method for other things that look the same or that I can't remember whose they are (walking socks for example)

Three brilliant ideas - knot, stitch and net bags, thank you! Will have a half term sort out. Although she’s as tall as me her legs aren’t quite so large of thigh so we’re not quite the same size yet. I do like to buy myself slightly nicer tights too 😉

My friend used to put a dot of nail varnish on the waistband of hers.

I’m going to sew stitches in navy tights. Can’t think why I never thought to do this before. I’ve often arrived at a work meeting in a black or dark grey outfit and realised I had blue tights too late to do anything about it.

DD’s go in a sock shop net bag when she takes them off but my tights all have a label ... I only buy autograph 60d bodyshaper!!

I take my tights off and put them straight in to a net bag, then wash and tumble dry like that. I hange the net bag in my wardrobe so I don’t have to put them away, just take what I need. I have 1 bag for dirty, with the washing pile, and the other clean bag in the wardrobe.

All of ours have a little white label that doesn't say the size sharpie and initial.

Mine are still young, so not confused with mine yet. However they are different ages so I use a red and blue sharpie dot in the waistband to differentiate. Do it with pants too!

You know each size has a different coloured stitch inside the waistband?

Thanks for this post Tatapie, some great replies. I had this problem recently when I wore wrong pair to work and had to try to yank them up all day as they were sliding right down as way too small for me. Couldn't take them off as badly needed to shave my legs!

I think so. It’s in all the tights we have and we are a three-tight-wearer house here, S,M and L
