Boden shoes - worth it?

I've seen these Chelsea boots which I spied on someone on the train (apologies if it was you- navy dress and funky tweed jacket and these kind of boots. But £120 is a bit ouch. Any experience good or bad of shoes from there? Hoping for a voucher/ % off event!

Boden shoes - worth it?

I've ordered and returned several pairs of Boden shoes and they are very hit and miss size wise and often very narrow and cheaply made. I think you can get nicer better quality shoes for the same price if not cheaper.

bingohandjob · 16/10/2017 21:36

Every pair of Boden shoes I've ever ordered have been sent back. I find them very narrow fitting (I don't have particularly wide feet) and awful, slippery soles. I love lots of Boden stuff but their shoes are a real let down. By way of contrast, Clarks Originals have really impressed me over last few years - classic, simple styles, well made and incredibly comfortable.

TheWiseOldElf · 16/10/2017 21:39

I’ve had generally great experience with Boden shoes. Particularly when they come in half sizes. The heel snapped on the last pair I bought though and that has put me off. They refunded with no bother but that didn’t help massively when I was halfway through a working day with a broken shoe 😡

theredjellybean · 16/10/2017 21:41

Very narrow... But often beautiful

thenightsky · 16/10/2017 21:51

Hard unforgiving shoes in my experience.

woodhill · 16/10/2017 22:02

I like them but have slim feet

StrikingMatches · 16/10/2017 22:17

I’ve yet to find a comfortable pair of Boden shoes. I keep trying but they are all stiff and take the skin off my heels.

walkingtheplank · 16/10/2017 22:19

I find them narrow and shallow. Have always had to send back.

fivefour3twoone · 16/10/2017 22:31

Oh I always thought it was me....I've ordered lots over the years but always had to send back

missmartha · 16/10/2017 22:45

I bought a pair of plimsol type shoes from Boden in June and have worn them heaps . They are very comfy.

I haven't tried more formal shoes or boots.

ILoveDolly · 16/10/2017 22:46

I bought a pair of sandals once that broke after the third wearing

BubblesBuddy · 16/10/2017 22:53

Mixed results like others. Mostly narrow and low cut. Moda in Pelle usually have decent Chelsea boots. Last year they had Penelope Chilvers look alikes for less than Boden.

crazymissdaisy · 16/10/2017 23:02

Agony for my wide feet, also oddly sharp. Overpriced even if they weren't agony

Squashit · 17/10/2017 06:50

Joules are better quality and have stuff with a similar vibe.

Squashit · 17/10/2017 06:56

here

CharlieSierra · 17/10/2017 07:26

They fit me and every pair I've had has lasted ages. My favourite sandals have done three summers and are still looking good.

Grumpbum · 17/10/2017 07:30

Apparently B9I8 should give you 25%

Polkadot1974 · 17/10/2017 21:01

Thanks all. Maybe I'll order from a sale one time and see how I find their fit. I'm hopeless with hard shoes so maybe they aren't for me

Highlove · 17/10/2017 21:09

I've got these boots - really like them. I don't have narrow feet and they're very comfy. I think they're much nicer than the Joules version, personally.

blodynmawr · 17/10/2017 21:21

I have various Boden shoes and boots that have lasted years. I also find M&S generally good for boots.
This year I fancied a change so ordered various ankle boots from the likes of Joules and Hudson but all went back due to tiny sizing (and my feet are not that big). I have now ordered the Boden ones linked in the OP as a last resort. Always find a 20% code plus Johnnie sent me a voucher Smile.

UterusUterusGhali · 17/10/2017 21:27

I only have a couple of pairs and the soles are very thin and rigid and unforgiving as thenightsky says.
But I do love a moulded insole and comfort.
