When are you marrying? A dove grey cashmere shrug would be gorgeous for cooler weather.

Etsy is great for inspiration if you're stuck.

In a couple of weeks! And I've only decided to panic about it now! Sounds lovely but was thinking more ivory like the dress

Google image search for "white evening cape"

mumof1littlebun · 16/10/2017 14:37

Erm thanks I have been googling just not sure what's going to work best!

To be fair if you're overweight (not sure how tall you are), is this dress flattering for you?

Gingernaut · 16/10/2017 14:43

Searched for "ivory shawl shrug cape" and all of a sudden Google got the knitting needles out. Confused

Congratulations on your forthcoming wedding, OP.

I think it's a matter of nailing what your style is op because I think you could make most things work with your dress.

A lacy cover up or a satin bolero would be traditional and beautiful but I also think an ivory , cropped jacket would be great. If you're thinking even further outside the box , what about an ivory blazer?

mumof1littlebun · 16/10/2017 14:52

Serendipia1907 I'm a size 12-14 and my dress looks lovely so take your rude comments elsewhere please!

Magicfajita I don't think I want a jacket or blazer, definitely looking for more of a shrug or bolero, do you think something plain and chiffon would work well with all the lace of the dress?

I've seen several friends wear the above which is lovely. However with your dress, I'm not sure many will look right? Unless it's absolutely a howling gale, I wouldn't bother with one

serendipia1907 · 16/10/2017 17:31

@mumof1littlebun OP, ffs, did not mean to be rude!!!! I didn't suggest you're fat, but if you say you don't like your arms it did sound like you said that. I was just asking if it isn't the dress that's making you feel this way, maybe it doesn't flatter your shape. Jesus Christ.

I do hope you have a lovely weekend and I am sure you will look fab.

serendipia1907 · 16/10/2017 17:36

I meant wedding, of course

FairfaxAikman · 16/10/2017 17:48

I had a bolero by Ellis. It went on backwards (like a hairdressers apron) and buttoned up at the back. It very much looked part of the (strapless) dress.

I bought a lace bolero which matched the dress even though made by a different label. My dress maker put see through poppers in it and the dress and it just looked like part of the dress. I don't know if you can see it on the photo below.

You can see it better here.

jennielou75 · 16/10/2017 18:51

Or if I add it even!

Oh that's pretty Jennie maybe lace would work then I though plain may have been better

It sounds weird but it just matched the dress and looked like it was part of it. Try different things on with your dress and it will work. Blimey my fake tan shows in that pic!

lovechildofLordFarquaad · 16/10/2017 22:08

I bought a lovely bolero from etsy as I was self conscious about my arms too. It was from Alex bridal in the US but was really good value, about £40 plus shipping. Or you could check eBay or preloved as you haven't got that long til the wedding? Monsoon also do some nice boleros, I had a lovely one as a bridesmaid, it was fake fur and a silvery grey colour but I'm sure they do white/off white too
