What shoes??

I have this dress to wear for an anniversary trip to the west end. We will be walking around London for a fair bit before we go to theatre so what shoes can I wear??
I was hoping for boots but my knee highs look ridiculous. I don't do well in heels. Any suggestions?

Biker boots and jacket ?

Might be an option but I don't have very thin ankles so would I look a bit bowling pin?

Chelsea boots?

Knee high boots always look a bit odd with sleeveless dresses (in my opinion anyway). I'd probably wear ballet pumps with it, in red or black. Biker boots might just work, would give you a slight rock chick look, but not Chelsea boots. The dress isn't tailored enough to suit them.
