Comfortable shoes for black tie event

I'm hosting a black tie fundraiser for 450 next month. I"m going to be spending all morning setting up (in trainers) and will then be on my feet from 4pm to 1am. I've been advised to wear flat shoes but my dress is long and I don't want it to drag on the floor. If I were a guest I'd wear 6" spike heels but I don't want to cripple myself.

Are there any super comfy mid heels for wider feet out there?

Not glamorous, but M&S do pretty good shoes for wide feet IME, especially ones with Insolia linings

For example, these kitten heels, or these kitten heels in black or silver. Or if you can manage slightly higher, these stilettos come in a range of colours. I think these wedges will be too work like, but wedges are a good option for height but more support.

Clarks Kendra are comfy - i have them in patent black and suede navy.

A friend of mine swears by wearing dance shoes for evening events and weddings - she says they're far more comfortable than anything on the high street. Lots are mid heeled and fairly inoffensive.

I would wear a pair of comfy wedge sandals. I've got a lovely pair from M&S which have a six inch wedge heel and go perfectly with long evening gowns. Can dance for hours in them!

I love Rainbow Club shoes. I have a really comfy pair of mid kitten heel strappy courts, with a diamanté, that I wore all day for my wedding. They were white and afterwards I got them dyed black (free service RC offer) and now wear them to all black tie events and cruises. They’re still going strong and are really comfortable

Oleanna, I have the first pair you linked to, they are comfy, I'm wearing them right now and they are my plan b pair, was wondering if there was anything else out there.

I think I prefer them to the Clarks Kendra.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners I hadn't considered dance shoes. I have flamenco shoes but they have nail heads on the bottom on the heels so would have to get something different.

I’m not sure Clark’s Kendra or wedges would really be suitable for black tie, especially if you’re organising and people will be looking at you. I think you will need a low heeled satin shoe or similar elegant styellow. Dancing shoes sound perfect but I wouldn’t know where to buy them!

If you google "ballroom dancing shoes UK" lots of options come up, such as these black leather shoes - again, not particularly beautiful but maybe more comfortable than regular shoes

Block heels are your friend. Pick a pair with a strappy toe that will Peep out. I can stand all night in block heels with no problem whatsoever. Love the dress by the way.

I've got Freed dancing shoes that are comfy and pretty (and a size 8).

I've got some Hotter boots and sandals that are really comfy - they have several widths available and if you can fight your way past the granny annie styles there are a few that have a mid heel and look quite nice and are supposed to be very comfy (I can't wear heels so can't tell you sorry).

I like the look of the Donna ones or the Charmaine ones.

They also sell memory foam insoles (as do many other places) that you could buy shoes with enough space for the insoles, so that would be an extra layer of comfort under your feet...

oops. cross posted and didn't see that you were based in the US. Might make Hotter an unrealistic prospect in that case!

I spotted these sparkly beauties on ASOS today, which has free shipping worldwide. They're from Coast. Who knows if they'd be comfy but the heel is low enough to be practical.

Alternatively these are on Zappos and would look pretty classy on, for a low block heel.
