What cardigan with this skirt?

Wedding at the weekend in the frozen north - I've been just organised enough to buy a beautiful skirt here: www.joythestore.com/louche-luxe-joyous-bloom-print-jacquard-midi-skirt

I'm thinking of wearing it with an off white silk t shirt style top and cobalt blue heels. Really struggling to find a suitable layer in terms of shape and colour to put over the top - I hate my arms and don't want to be cold!

Was thinking of this: m.asos.com/asos/asos-chunky-cardigan-in-fluffy-rib/prd/8796668?clr=purple&SearchQuery=cardigans&pgesize=54&pge=1&totalstyles=54&gridsize=2&gridrow=2&gridcolumn=1

Best feature is I still have an hourglass figure so don't want to lose that with too long a cardie; and not sure if I should be going more neutral on colour because of bright shoes. Any help wise gurus??!

Hmmmm think the cardi is too sloppy for that skirt or a wedding.

Paintbox · 10/10/2017 08:18

I agree, it needs a neater shaped cardigan to be smart enough for a wedding imo

BulletFox · 10/10/2017 08:25

WTF is the model up to?! It looks like she's prancing around on catnip.

White silk t-shirt and cobalt heels sound lovely, I'd honestly go for a fitted cardigan however

Bobbybobbins · 10/10/2017 08:28

Agree a more fitted cardigan or even soft structured jacket would work better.

It is a lovely skirt but i am not seeing how cobalt shoes will work and that cardigan is hideous.

I would go nude shoes and a bolero shaped cardi in the colour of the flowers - is it coral? If you are hour glass you need the cardi to sit just above your waist.

What about this?

Yes to ted baker one 100% no to the others ! Have fun at the wedding OP !

Wow lots of responses - thank you! I agree about fitted, it was tricky to find one that wasn't too 'old' for me (late twenties). I can do nude shoes, I just thought the blue would bring out the dark violet of the skirt background. Ted Baker one a bit pricey, but I can have a hunt for cheaper versions - is the verdict more towards a neutral colour than a coral or fuchsia (which was what I was thinking originally)?

I would just wear a long sleeved top I think. Can you find a long or 3/4 sleeve silk top in black or white?

blueskyinmarch · 10/10/2017 09:25

I think a bright coral or fuchsia one but in the style of the TB one would work really well. The shoes might work in cobalt - you would need to try them out with the skirt. If not nude will be fine.

Boden do cropped cardigans in 101 different colours. As do Kettlewell Colours. Pure might have something as well. Colour wise I'd pull out a minor colour from the dress but it will depend on the shoes, cobalt shoes with neutral cardigan, nude shoes with colourful cardigan. What kind of bag do you have?
