Which moisturiser actually works

I have tried cheap ones and not so cheap ones and I never want to buy the same one twice because they don't work. I just want a facial moisturiser that sorts out my dry skin. Any recommendations? Pretty please

I've been happy with Aveeno - seems to keep my dry skin in check and can pick it up most places

I've been using Green Keratin creams and think they are great value. This one is the one I use at the moment but the Rose one is also good.

this stuff is amazing. Im so glad i found it. It was recommended on here and i wear it for daytime too because it sinks in really quickly

I love the green Aveeno cream. It's so soothing, clears up dry patches on my face a treat.

The Ordinary hyaluronic acid sorted out my flaky forehead like magic.

I find if I later a hydrating serum and a moisturiser I get better best results. A moisturiser on its own isn’t enough for me. I have tried and like Avene serums and Una Brennan superfacialist Vit C one and the new Simple hydrating one.

I ran out of my normal moisturiser and simultaneously dh shaved off his beard. He'd been given some really nice beard oil and was told if he got rid of the beard, it's ok to use the oil directly on skin. I slapped it on after cleansing and I haven't bought any more moisturiser since. It's called Bulldog oil I think and it smells lovely

I'm liking the M&S ultimate sleep cream at the moment, I also rate Aldi's caviar moisturiser

Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream. I've dry/dehydrated skin too and this is the best I've tried.

Expensive, but you can find it on eBay cheaper, and often in big professional sizes, which work out at even better value.

Nivea Soft has always made my skin feel good - no greasy film left behind and no overpowering scent. Very inexpensive too.

Seconding a good serum as well - Vichy Aqualia is great for dry skin and then I use any old moisturiser on top.

Be sure you're using an exfoliater regularly as moisturiser won't get a chance to work if it lying on top of dead skin cells.
I prefer chemical exfoliating, check out the acids from Bravura London

Dry skin is often the result of diet.

Are you getting enough Omega 3 ? (Avocado, salmon, sardines, leafy veg, walnuts?) And not too much sugar and crap?

And are you hydrated enough?

That's an interesting point about diet. I'm currently on mat. leave and snack too much junk and probably drink too little water so maybe I need to address that

How are you cleansing your face, OP? That can be a big cause of dryness.

Cicalfate by Avene. It's meant to be a healing cream I think and looks quite medicinal but my dryish skin has never looked better since I started using it. You only need a bit. I ran out a month ago and my skin started looking a bit shit again. A week back using it and bingo back to normal. It's cheap as well.

I have very dry skin. Not diet or cleansing related. I use The Ordinary serums and a glycolic acid peel once a week. It helps. I'm yet to find a decent Moisturizer that doesn't clog, isn't too heavy and moisturises well. I'm waiting to get The Ordinary Moisturiser with HA.

Skin smoothing cream dermalogica, you could also buy a booster and the barrier repair. You will be looking at over £100 for this but it will be worth it.

La Roche Posay moisturisers are brilliant, look for the ones designed for dry skin. Superdrug hydrating serum is also really good for dry skin under moisturiser.
