Chenelle: just no

Chenelle is back and apparently on trend, if Jigsaw is to be believed: www.jigsaw-online.com/product/chenelle-jumper/J34515_BL010

It gives me the horrors just thinking about the feel of the stuff: grim in the 80s/90s and grim now. Or is that just me?

I like the feel of it but it really clings so not always flattering

thecatfromjapan · 08/10/2017 22:10

Oh my. That just brings back memories of teenage drinking.

Butterymuffin · 08/10/2017 22:11

Tbh I was feeling quite nostalgic for 90s jumpers till I clicked the link and saw the price tag of £90!

Littlebatcalledlucille · 08/10/2017 22:11

Nope! Not just you!
Makes my skin itch just looking at it!

ItsAHardKn0ckLife1 · 08/10/2017 22:12

Just looking at it sets my teeth on edge

SelmaAndJubjub · 08/10/2017 22:12

Always has a weird smell too.

Funnily enough thecatfromjapan, that was my first thought.

Lucked · 08/10/2017 22:17

Oh my, it's a no from me too. I wonder what will be next of the retro fabrics, shot silk must be due a revival

Butterymuffin · 08/10/2017 22:19

Just flicked over to Friends and I think Monica is wearing one in red. Shock

MorrisZapp · 08/10/2017 22:24

Oh god not chenille! Disgusting stuff. Always feels wet, even when dry. Flatters nobody. Saw some in Urban Outfitters the other day.

CoffeenoTea · 08/10/2017 22:25

Crimplene will be on the rails by morning i predict.

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 08/10/2017 22:39

Used to love them in the 90's but the smell and the fluff...

Onthehighseas · 08/10/2017 22:40

is Chenelle the same stuff as chenille? Not being facetious, just wondering. I remember going on a date in the 90s wearing a blue chenille cardi. Surprisingly, the night ended rather well Wink

SelmaAndJubjub · 08/10/2017 23:29

Yes - I always spelt it 'chenille' too but Jigsaw's going for 'chenelle'. Same hideous thing.

MorrisZapp · 08/10/2017 23:45

That jumper design is called Chenelle, it's made out of chenille I think?

abitoflight · 08/10/2017 23:56

Possible only in the home?

Housewife2010 · 09/10/2017 06:47

I had a burgundy chenille jumper in the '90s which I loved. It went threadbare over the boobs though so I had to take it back. I saw some chenille in M&S last week.

yes, they've just named the design Chenelle - like calling it Mary or something. but they describe it as being made of chenille.

NotAgainYoda · 09/10/2017 06:50

I used to know someone called "Chenille".. Spelled Chinniel

CarlHickbread · 09/10/2017 06:59

It’s definately making a comeback, I’ve seen it everywhere.

I definitely won’t be purchasing!

BestIsWest · 09/10/2017 07:13

I had a purple chenille jumper as a student. God, I loved it. I wore it until it was mostly just string.

CJCreggsGoldfish · 09/10/2017 07:15

I think I'd blocked this out...I'm now having flashbacks 😬

randomuntrainedcuntowner · 09/10/2017 07:20

Yuk. And she is wearing a navy jumper with horrid black nylon trousers as well! Just no

crumbsinthecutlerydrawer · 09/10/2017 07:33

I had a cream short sleeved one in the 90s, it went bald on my boobs from the friction of them bouncing about. I’ll not be revisiting this, although I do enjoy seeing all the clothes of my teen years coming back (on younger people).
