this coat

It's in that fashionable sort of technical fabric. V waterproof. Very warm (nearly passed out in the shop trying it on). Bum covering. Has those sporty cuffs you can put a thumb through. Also side zips so it fits over bums without being huge round the waist.

Now just need winter weather.

We have actually made a mistake with this one and can now see that it's not an affiliate link (from the OP) - sorry folks!

We've undeleted the thread and will be mailing the OP shortly to grovel clear things up.

If you put that coat on first Lorna even the super-pointy pointy sword wouldn't get through.

fatfingeredfran · 06/11/2017 10:55

£149 and it’s not even waterproof... you could go to an outdoors shop and get a much better jacket for that money!

Elledorado · 06/11/2017 11:09

I tried to buy this in black for the school run months ago, but it sold out really early in the size 8 and smaller sizes. I think the design is quite good for smaller sizes anyway and the gauche duvet look is actually quite on trend where I am Grin

TheOtherGirl · 06/11/2017 11:13

I think you'd have to be tall and willowly to carry this off. Otherwise you're going to look like a black dingy.

FiddleWiddiRiddim · 06/11/2017 11:19

It's horrible

It looks like a sleeping bag

And £149?! Seriously?! I got mine for £30 in TK Maxx last year

ImADingleDangleScarecrow · 06/11/2017 11:51

I like it & nor does it scream Mum coat to me. I also like the boots that the model is wearing it with.

CallarMorvern · 06/11/2017 13:18

Oh, I really, really love this in red. I have a North Face parka, which is 2 sizes too big, way frumpy and I can't afford to replace it. Wish I had a spare £149 hanging about!

Have to be skinny and tall to carry off the padding. Otherwise (on me) it looks like I'm wearing extra rolls. I have enough rolls of my own.

ImADingleDangleScarecrow · 06/11/2017 14:55

Zara are selling loads of similar ones at the mo and the M&S one looks much nicer (and better quality)

banivani · 06/11/2017 15:04

I think this is a good coat! Granted I am a Swede and this is the sort of thing people happily wear in Sweden in the winter. You could buy something similar from Peak Performance for £££. The point is you look like someone who is active and has her shit together, not like some ditz from the Capitol (Hunger Games reference). People who wear inappropriate clothing look stupid. I am officially old and shake my head at kids in runners when the temperature is well below 0.

Assume the zip is a double one? Excellent.

Fairylea · 06/11/2017 15:09

I have a coat very similar to this that I got in Cotton Traders for £30 in their half price sale recently Grin I absolutely love it. Dh hates it and says it looks like I’m wearing a sleeping bag but it’s so warm I don’t really care. When we went to the park at the weekend and he was freezing his arse off in his slim fitting wool coat I was quite pleased with myself Grin

LightastheBreeze · 06/11/2017 16:50

Did you buy it, I really like it and it has good reviews

BubblesBuddy · 06/11/2017 17:52

I think the cheaper padded coat M &S do in a burgundy colour is better. I think these coats depend on your lifestyle. Black padded coats/duvet coats are being worn by 20 something’s in London at the moment, especially oversized ones! Not frumpy at all.

Oh, by the way: I am over 60 and have a green parka. Age is irrelevant if a style suits you.

Backingvocals · 06/11/2017 18:00

I wore the coat on Bonfire Night and was very happy I had bought it - so warm. I particularly like the design features - waisted, expanding bits on the sides to accommodate hips, ribbed cuffs with thumb holes etc.

And thanks MN for resurrecting the post and granting me a pardon. Freedom for Backingvocals Grin

If I were buying a waterproof, warm coat it would be the Joules Stormont coat.

Water resistant is not waterproof sadly.
