Good dog walking boots/ wellies?

I'm fed up of lacing up walking shoes (which are knackered and no longer waterproof anyway) for dog walks. What's a good alternative? I was thinking wellies but not sure if they'd be warm enough/ comfortable enough for a decent walk. Any good suggestions? I could probably spend up to £60 - 70 but not really much more. Been having a look online but don't really know what I'm looking for!

I do a lot of pavement walking with my dogs so my wellies take a battering.
Hunters were rubbish, went through 2 pairs in a couple of months. Think they’re ok for walking in parks and woods but not for hard ground.
I have Aigles now and they’re great. The only thing I would say is that I have to wear thick socks as they’re big around my ankles and I’ve also got gel insoles in them for extra comfort.

I've heard a few bad things about hunters, but they're out my price range really anyway!

I'll mostly be in woods and fields, little bit of pavement. Just want something warm and waterproof and comfy that I can just sling on and go!

I've got some Shires country boots, they are similar to the Dubin Country boots. I paid just over £100 though.

I love my Hunters with welly socks. I have two pairs and they don't show any signs of wear, they are super comfy. I have skinny calves and I can't stand wellies that slop about. Hunters can be tightened to fit well round wellie socks and jeans - and are comfortable to walk long distances in.

Well my hunters are great. Current pair are 3 years old and going strong. Very comfy. I live on a farm though and rarely do pavements. They were no more than £70 from the local farm supplies shop.

Argh maybe I need to reconsider Hunters then! I don't have loads of £ at the mo so while I can pay out a bit to get what I want, I'd be gutted if they fell apart after a few months.

Hunters never last for me. Muck Boots are the only ones that last and are comfortable for long walks. It is also very easy to clean

My friend and I both have neoprene (sp?) lined wellies and that makes a real difference to warmth so I'd recommend getting some with that in, and factor in a little wiggle room for wellie socks and you'll be toasty all winter

I’d recommend looking for some waterproof country boots in your price range. I have Dublin river boots but they are £120ish. They keep my feet warm and dry and are really comfortable too

I walk my dog for 2-3 hours every day regardless of the weather, half woodland, half beach. I use a pair of dunlop half-height wellies that cost me 14 quid. Spend mega bucks on Hunters or whatever if you like but wellies are wellies and you're just splurging money on a label. Stick on a thick pair of socks when the temperature drops.

I have some sheepskin lined Hunters that are amazing. I got them in the sale but they are probably outside your budget this time of year. Otherwise I was going to suggest walking Boots when I saw the thread title...

Hunters are dreadful - uncomfortable and cold. Le Chameau are the dogs but out of your price range but try to find other neoprene lined ones.

I have Le Chameau wellies which are great but ££. Muck Boots aren't very glamorous but are warm and comfortable. Leather country boots look nice and are also usually comfortable but may be out of your price range... could be worth looking in your local country supplies store though.

I have Aigle neoprene lined wellies, bought them in 1999. I walk miles & miles in them and they are so toasty & warm. Uber comfortable, tend to keep them on all day! The heels are a very worn now and I have just repaired them for the third time with Black Witch! Still drying on the kitchen table.

Bog standard wellies are just as good as hunters. Primark etc are fine.

I do the short Dunlops with an insole in and then sock thickness to suit weather .

I have the equestrian hunters, they have neoprene in them, I have found them much sturdier than the usual hunters. They have lasted me over a year or so now with no signs of the heel wearing which the normal ones did, and have taken a fair old battering from walking the dog and sorting the horse out. Really warm, really comfy and they mould to the shape of your calves.

I have Aigle Signatures. They are fabulous and walk miles in them

HKM do some country boots that are around £70 and fairly decent.

I'd go for the Dunlops.

I love hunters and find them hard to match for comfort because they are so soft and flexible but they just don't last like they used to when they were made in England.
My last pair only did 6 months of daily dog walks until they sprang a leak just where my toes bent the boot as I walked.

I was unwilling to be spending £80 ish twice a year so had a long hard search for something better.

Came up with Aigle parcours and got them from Amazon on offer for about the same price as hunters and 18months later there still going strong. They are heavier than lots of wellies but very comfortable because there designed with soles like a walking boot. They do a neoprene version if you feel the cold.
Well worth trying a pair on if you have a nearby stockist.

I find wellies just aren't great for your feet if worn for any length of time, even though I've quite pricey neoprene lined ones. I now wear Lowa Recon GTX which are military style boots, (needed something similar for volunteer search and rescue uniform anyway) quite pricey but so comfortable straight out of the box, no walking in needed, and so I wear them pretty much every day for hours so well worth the initial outlay, and as long as kept well and cleaned and treated as needed, are waterproof. (I even dance in them at times as feel so light and flexible!)

I'm leaning towards a pair of country boots now. What do people think of these?

I would have thought they would last quite well but the tweed may be a bit difficult to keep clean. That may not bother you of course. They are similar to Dubarry boots which are a lot more expensive but will last forever. Literally forever - so are good value in the end!

Otherwise Aigle are good and I like my Timberland waxed leather waterproof lace ups! Again have had them years and expect to have them for many more years.
