Anyone wear a diamond pendant day to day?

I inherited a lovely diamond ring, a beautiful stone in a solitaire setting. I was thinking of getting it reset into a very simple pendant for everyday wear. I'm hesitating slightly as a friend said she'd be much more cautious of a necklace breaking and losing the diamond. I wear a necklace most days and don't think I've ever not noticed if a necklace broke while I was wearing it. It's probably only happened a couple of times in 20 years. Would I be foolhardy to risk it?

I nearly lost my Tiffany necklace in America once and it scared the shit out of me. I now have cheaper copies of my jewellery for everyday and whack the real ones out for occasions

Argh dryheave absolutely not meant like that! Blush

It's just more of a dressed up going out style so I'd feel a bit overdone wearing it all the time. God, didn't mean to sound like a dick 🙈

I do. Mine is on a very thin gold chain, but I wear it all the time - sleep in it, swim in it, etc. Have had it for almost 20 years and not a problem.

Just get a strong chain!!!

I had a .70 ct diamond pendant and I wore it all the time. It was perfect. I sold it when I split up with my ex husband as he bought it for me and I needed the money. I still miss it 6 years on and it's on my list of things to replace when funds allow.

I say wear it and enjoy it. Insure it if you can. Life is short.

I do have one and it's a gift from my dh on our anniversary so I wear it everyday. It's special.

I have one my ex (children's father) gave me for my birthday the year DS was born. I never wear it these days as it feels weirdly disloyal to DH, but I think about it often.
I might get it out again. It's a shame to be sitting in a box in the attic.

I have one but don't wear it daily for fear of losing it. I also don't wear it where someone may rip it off my neck :( I tend to wear it where I feel I can retrace my steps if that makes sense, should it come undone.
It's not huge- just under 0.5 carats- but I like it. I bought it for ME!

I wear mine. Had it since I was 18 and it has been off a handful of times. Has even survived getting yanked by a baby/toddler. Speak to a jeweller about getting a decent chain for it though
